I was crusing along last night and the car starts to sputter and then clonks out on my. I pop the hood and find a small wire from the positive side of the battery arking on the manifold. So I trace the wire back splice it and clamp it back together. Go to fire the car up and it turns over strong but won't start. I check the coil and I have fire there. I check the plugs and there is no fire to them. I immediately think ignition module so I go to advanced auto and purchase one and install it. Get it installed and still the same problem. Getting pleanty of fuel just not firing up. Anyone have any ideas!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks in advance! Derick

sounds like pick up coil or rotor. just to be safe check the ohms on the plug wires could be bad wires.

The coil and the rotor are good. Doesn't matter its in the electrical shop now. Shoot $127 to go through it and hopefully its a simple fix b/c thats covered in the check. If not lets keep our fingers crossed.

I was thinking about selling it since it has been giving me so many problems lately. Shoot just last week I had to change the seal on the timing chain cover it was leaking antifreeze. BUT the tow truck driver was going on and on about how much it was a beautiful car and told me not to sell it. Funny how someone else can admire your ride and it can change your whole outlook on things.

^^I hear ya on that one...and ya man i would not sell it tho...its natural to be upset about your car if its not working...personally i would say keep it fix what you can and once all the things are fixed you will absolutely love the car!

I must say that my DAD owes me 100 bucks. When I was changing the ignition module I looked at the rotor button (thats right the rotor button) and said it looked bad. SSSSSSSSSOoooooooooooo he says let me see that darn thing. Man aint nothing wrong with this rotor button its still brand new. So 100 bucks later for what I noticed off the top its running like a dream. Now granted they did look at and fix a few other things but I saw and called out the problem. But how can I second guess the man that taught me everything. Needless to say they also advised me of the dizzy going bad so I will be doing that myself this weekend. I wasn't about to pay $427 bucks for that.

What was wrong with it?

I did have a similar situation where the actual contact piece in the button was too far in and not making contact. Was that it?
