Mechanical Fuel pump

So I rebuilt my motor several years ago. However the block I received has a port for a mechanical fuel pum. I dont think the 1991 3.1L pontiac engines use a mechanical fuel pump. At least according to my Helms service manual they dont.

So I was wondering if you guys could help me figure out what car this engine came from so I can see if they have a block off plate I could buy. I had a steel plate made that has worked good for years but has developed a leak. I'll probably end up reusing it, but it would be nice to know if there are any alternatives and a proper gasket.

Thanks!

Re: Mechanical Fuel pump

to the best of my knowledge only the 2.8 from 80-85 in the s10,camaro,firebird,and chevy citation had the mechanical fuel pump, Im not saying you have a 2.8 just that maybe you have a 2.8 block with the 3.1 innards which is of course a 3.1 now. I would go get a used junk fuel pump and have a shop use the base of the pump to make a block off plate that way you can use the fuel pump gasket and that should be effective.
