You get what you pay for. Small $$ spent will result in small gains.
No one makes a bolt on intake, except for the Truleo joke. Some people here run home made intake manifolds, but more common (and much easier to make) is home made cold air. There is little bolt on stuff made for our engines. About the best (for cheap) is a cam and exhaust. And those depend on your level of cheap and what you consider a "major step."
Try ARI or Summit for a cam. Headers and cat-back can be found at Summit/Jegs/eBay.
There are small things available like under drive pulleys, and used parts like 1.6 rockers, but I'm not going to list everything, as we see this post every week and the search feature is handy at explaining it better than I can. Start at the sticky above about aftermarket parts, determine what you can do/afford, and go from there.

Any idiot can make a fast v8. It takes a real idiot to make a fast v6.
I have an UDP, cold air intake, and no cat. Just those simple and cheap mods have made really a world of difference. When I bought it my engine would never go upwards of 2500 RPM, now she loves to rev and acceleration is much better!

Aluminum UDP, Wonderbar, Cooper Cobras, high flow cat, K&N, more when I get the money...
yes its only gonna be 375.when i originally did these they ended up near 450 bucks a pop.
my prototype went to a member of the boards in a trade for a turbo
i never used it on an n/a motor only forced induction motor, but it made a world of diff on it.
im going to be building n/a and fi version of this manifold the n/a version will have smaller plenum volume for throttle response.
when im ready to produce them next month i will cut a deal for the first person to buy an n/a version and the first person to buy the fi version ill say in the range of 280-300 bucks.just to get the first 2 out there
What???? No SPECS on your cam selections, Dave....?????
stage 1 and 2 are close to off the shelf grinds but not quite, u should be able to quess the specs on stage 3 and 4 though cause uve heard me talk about them for my car
Dang it sucks that no brand actually produces an intake..does anyone in the group actually make working ones that they sell upon request..I seen someone post instructions on how to make custome ones but yeah!!
Closest I did was to port and polish the plenum and heads, performance grind on the valves and 260 grind cam and 1.52 roller tipped rockers and a CAI. On the exhaust side, Pacesetter headers and a Dynomax Superturbo muffler to open up the exhaust.

jensen how soon u interested in one?? im working with a site sponsor to get a few of these made up for now till i have all the equipment i need to fab these myself again.
Actually, I'm more interested in the ported intake for $75. I take it that I send you my upper/mid/lower intake, you port 'em and I pay shipping both ways, correct? And then down the road I can put the "pizza box" on my ported base?
I'd love the pizza box, but can't swing that right now on a college budget.

yeah pretty much, and yes the pizza box will bolt right to a ported manifold section. ill pm u in a bit to see what shipping would be if its alot ill work out a deal on the price with ya, otherwise i gota use my own and charge ya a core charge
