Well guys, she served me well for 7 years, now she's off to the crusher. I was going down the road, hit the brakes, got a good first application, then the master cylinder let loose and the pedal went straight to the floor. There was no chance...
This happened on 10/19. All parties involved are okay and the Tacoma that I plowed into drove away. She was cross traffic at a 4-way stop, I hit her right on the rear axle.

Sorry man...car's already gone. I didn't want to have to keep paying for storage on a car that I wasn't about to try and deal with. The sad thing is that yesterday when i went to get my personal stuff out of it...it still started and ran. Fired up the first time with no questions asked. The front sub was toast. Neither of the doors opened without a pry bar and some brute force.
The legal fault is all on me. The brakes failed and I blew through a stop sign. Technically, it was just an equipment failure at a BAD time. So there was really nothing I could do about it. It was a true accident, in the strictest sense of the word.
Man, that does suck! I've had my Camaro for 15 years and if I ever wrecked it I'd go get another one. Once you have one its hard to get something else.
No, I don't think that I'll be buying another one anytime soon. Maybe at some point in the future as a true project, but right now...no.
my wife and I are trying to start a family and I'll need something that I can count on a little more, plus I need better milage now that I commute. I will still be frequenting the boards though.
sorry man, really feel for ya, exactly how my car looked after crash. also had the same situ, couldnt really get another - light at the end of the tunnel though - I have one now :-)
i was racing my boss on the freeway i would have to say we were doin at least 110 120 and came up on dead stop traffic my master cylinder went out same thing peddle went straight to the floor and my e brake saved my life if ur quick enough with grabbing it and or down shifting u should have no problems in these bad situations... i actually got into an argument with a friend i told him i could drive around without ever hitting the brake pedal we cruised around for 20 minutes before he was convinced....
I did pull the e-brake, but it was only good for the last 50 ft. Drum brakes fully locked up don't stop a 3500 lb car very quickly. It's definitely what saved my life though.
I am so very glad that you are okay and I hope your family goals become reality.
Also,we need all the mods we can get to control us great unwashed rabble.
The one strong point about the thirdgens, is that survivability in a crash is very high (I was hit head on on the highway, after spinning out on a highway skating rink, by a full-size van, and walked away without a scratch).
