4 bolt mains, I hope. Either way it would be fun to see a crank blasted through the pan.

I feel cheated it says carnage pics but there really isn't any carnage pics.
Did you figure out what caused the valve to come loose?

Re: 3.0 turbo dyno results and carnage pics
block is toast, i almost told the shop to ditch the 3.0 and just build me a 3.4 but the 3.0 will deffinatly perform as expected so its going to be rebuilt.
but they are trying to figure out why it droped the valve before the new motor goes together, im suspecting the high spring rate valve springs was the cause as i didnt use anything special for locks and retainers
and also the 1.15 ar hotside is to large motor didnt hit 16 psi till just shy of 6k rpms so the .96 housing on the s475 will help out big time

Re: 3.0 turbo dyno results and carnage pics
yes im looking for atleast another 120 hp and 100 ftlbs which it should hit with the s475,prolly wont even have to turn the boost up to 21psi, the numbers were still climbing when the valve droped. motor should make peak power in the 7.5-8,200 rpm range
i dont plan on pushing the motor any further then that.as that should be enough power to go low 10's high 9's i may swap to a close ratio manual trans with this engine though

Well Dave, I don't feel so bad about the first destroked 3.4 being iron headed. It sounds like you put work into it to make it deserving. Too bad it crapped on the dyno. Now pictures!

Re: 3.0 turbo dyno results and carnage pics
I thought this post had car **** also.
I know how you feel I had a 302 Ford I built do that twice on the same motor and build. First it was a bad cam Alliance Cams brand. Almost all of the lobes broke apart. The parts store knew the cam was bad when I took it back because everyone that bought one had the same issue. They never called me to let me know. They replaced it with a new Crane Cam. I pulled the motor apart cleaned everything flushed out all of the oil returns. Rebuilt the motor for the second time that week and it ran for 15 minutes! One of the rod bolts broke and rapped around another rod. It tore the rod out of the piston, the piston was still up top. That was a bad week that week. Third time was the charm different block, crank, rods and pistons. It's still running 14 years later.

Re: 3.0 turbo dyno results and carnage pics
sorry guys i got into des moines last sunday and started work on monday, well i havent had a day off since and have been working 10-14 hour shifts so i havent had time to do a thing, soon as i get internet and dont have to use my cell ill have the pics posted
the verdict on the droped valve is that the retianers could just not withstand the spring presures the valve springs had 215# seat presure and around 490#'s open presure, so im going with different retianers and locks this time around, the machine shop is curretly trying to find me a suitable 3.4 block to use the one they did pick up needed to much work to be used
wdit
and actually if i get to pick up my blackberry tommorow i should be able to post pictures

Thats crappy having that happen. I had a pride and joy engine decide to spit a rod out of the side of the block on me once. Talk about miserable. CARNAGE PICS!!!

Re: 3.0 turbo dyno results and carnage pics
Sorry guys my job bumped me to 16 hour shifts i barley have time to sleep let alone get internet ser vice &d other things done that i need to do. Im working on it though i do have 2? S though first does anyone know of a decent mob ile web browser for a java based phone that will allow uploading of files over the phones web connection.
And number two im thinking i want to replace the rod in the cyl that droped the valve . But the machine shop says the rod is fine.i would think that the valve head getting jammed between the head and piston would put a bit of a buse on the rod what do u guyd think reuse it or replace it for piece of mind

As long as the rod is straight and not cracked it's fine. Put it back in.

I don't know if you were using the standard 5.7" rods, but if you're really looking to replace that rod, I think I still have the pair of 2.8 rods in the garage with pistons...

16hrs, that's it? I work my day job 7-4 than go to my shop till 12 or 1am M-F and still can manage pics. Someone even offered to host them from the cell pics!
This isn't like the old Daves12secv6 that had "400whp" in his sig a few yers ago and couldn't break 13's, is it?

Thats amazing i didn't think our motors could actually put out those numbers with a single turbo...but with intake valve dropping in like that i believe it was a weak spring...still interesting though
