Headers in CA dealing w/ CARB......w/n

Ok, I just bought a set of headers for my Firebird. They are a discontinued line of Hooker Competition headers designed for the 2.8L engine. They are a set that was sitting in a warehouse and they were not able to get rid of them until now. Well anyways it turns out these headers are not CA legal b/c it doesn't have the EGR fittings or the CARB number.
I thought what the hell I can make a hole in there and it would be cool and then the EGR valve would mount right on that hole and I would be able to pass smog. Well passing smog and breaking smog laws are 2 different things. Is this an emissions legal move that I am making? When I go to get it smogged should I not even bring it up or what? I'm stuck here b/c I don't want to go through all this work and then find out that I have to switch it back, ya know? Help me guys, later

Well this made me really happy. I went and talked to my smog technician today about the headers and what I plan to do. He is also the referee station in my area as well and he said that since I don't have a smog pump, air pump, and only one O2 sensor (and that it is way down in the exhaust) that I will be fine. He also told me since he owns the referee station that even if I ran into some problems that he would take car of them and made sure that I won't run into any problems in the future w/ future smogs on them. I'm really happy about this. Later all

I like your enthusiastic attitude bro. It won't be done until the 2nd week of December till I get them installed due to funds b/c I am installing a whole new aluminum exhaust system & a new high flow CAT so all that will take a couple of weeks to save for but it's all good. I'll take many pictures w/ my digital camera and post them on my site for you guys to see.
Also I have a question. Brian K told me that if fhe had the opportunity to do a custom exhaust he would go w/ a 2.5" Y-pipe, 3" intermediate pipe, & 2.5" tail pipes. Is there a certain advantage to this setup or would a 2.5" all the way through be just fine for me?
Also I'm thinking of getting a JET chip & a cold air intake (yes one has been made for the V6 now, check it out at http://www.empiremotorsports.net/3gf-body1.htm) and having it all installed at the same time. I sure would notice a big a$$ difference in movement from that car wouldn't I?

I also forgot to ask where the hell can I get header gaskets for these headers? I know that those headers won't bolt up like the exhaust manifolds w/ no gasket. Thanx

They should come with cheap gaskets, but Summit sells copper gaskets for 60 degree v6 engines, if it iwill work on our rides I am not sure, but why wouldn't it? It works for S-10 2.8's....
