I REALLY raced a escort today

Seriously I raced an escort today on the way to the mall (and I had my ex in the car). It was a white escort it looked old. It said LX on the back (musta been the turbo version). Anyways, I was going about 40 and dropped it into 2nd and chirped and he dropped it but never cought up till the light when it turned red and so I looked over at him and he looked back and rolled down his window and asked if I had a 350 and I said why dont you find out. And so I dropped the clutch at about 4,000 RPMs and did a massive burn out and he took off but only got about 30 feet then I flew past him. Kyle seriously this isnt flaming on you or your car cause unlike you I know just cause I beat this escort doesnt mean I can beat yours. Im just posting a kill!

Oh and by the way guys, how do you tell if your cat is clogged or ur muffler?? I think mine is.

Your cat will be rattling at lower rpms. If your cat is clogged, check your muffler after you change it because sometimes little chunks get shot back into your muffler, clogging it as well.

Another way to tell if your cat is clogged is if the engine is running hotter than usual. If you take your car to a muffler shop, they have a tool that takes the temp from both sides of the cat. If the temps are different, than it is clogged.

If you are having trouble getting up hills is a sign of a clogged cat.(A loss of power)

WEll Congrats Monkie. YOu beat a LX Escort. Mant that ias like a yugo. The don't even have a DOHC motor in them and I would imagine that he never did any performance work on the car. THough hey he wanted to race and you beat him. If he out wanting to race with a stock Escort LX then he is just a dumb *** . Why the hell do you buy the base model 4cyl that is made for nothing but gas mileage and then race it. Oh well. Good Job.
Oh yea as a point of reference there are not Turbo Escorts from the factory in the third gen Body style like mine(which were the first to get the DOHC 1.8L). There are after market set ups for them though.

Escorts arent all that slow.

I know someone who has a GT (dont know the year) that hauls pretty good. It has a header, and some head work doen to it. Its apretty quick little car, never had the chance to line it up with my old six, but he probably wouldve whooped me pretty good!

WEll once again the Escort GT's drive train is made by Mazda. I think it is fast for a 1.8L. The 1.9's are made for Economy, but how can you say a car turning 3500 RPMs at 65mph is only built for Economy? Anyways Im not going into the Work I have done on mine again I am just going to say I can turn in a 15.5 regularly in the 1/4 mile, so if you think Escorts are not fast fine. How many people are turning that with their 3.1s or 2.8s? Not too many. Yes I have driven a V8. I have a 86 355 T/A with a host of performance goodies. Also I have driven an LT-4 Corvette so I know What FAST from the Factory means.

kyle ill bet u 100$ if u drive ur escort down here and run it on the 1/4 mile it wouldnt run a 15.5. I race escorts all the time in my base line cavilier 4 door. I have raced 5 spd, autoslx,gt all the same. They get beat, and that cavilier wouldnt turn a run better than 19 seconds on the 1/4. Dont think that a little head work and all the sudden ur escort is a beast. ITS A FUKIN ESCORT!!! NOT A PERFORMANCE CAR IN N E WAY. IF UR ESCORT RAN 12S ALL DAY LONG IT STILL WOULDNT BE A PERFORMANCE CAR BECOUSE ITS AN ESCORT. lemme ask a question kyle, ur so proud of ur so called 15.5 second escort what happens when u gotta pick up a girl. The girl asks"so kyle what r u gonna pick me up in?" and u say "my 15 second escort" she says "ur what?? did u say escort?" u say "yeah baby, 15.5 all day" ,she starts laughing histaricly becouse u acctually put money and work into an escort. to end the saga the girl goes with the guy in his 16.5 second v6 f body. I wonder who gets laid. The point is who cares what ur escort runs. ITS AN ESCORT!!!!

i cant rag on the man completely with his escort cos he does have a car with a real engine in it, but why waste the time putting workin into a escort to make it fast? ive had a head job done on my 4 banger grand am, with a few other mods, yet i dont race it, nor has it ever seen the track or a dyno.. and i dont rock it like its fast either, and when someone caps on it being slow, i dont tell em its fast, nor do i get in my v6'er, i just fire up the 'roc...

monkie why do you talk so much sh*t all the time, about who you race? I'm sorry, a v6 maro isn't that great, and I have one. But I also have a '86 Iroc. I don't even have to race them, they don't care to race when they see the IROC badges, but then again they don't care when they see the "camaro" badges on my 88. it seems like you run all around looking for races. honestly not that many people are aggressive as you to the point where they have to beat the sh*t out of their cars daily "yeah, I dumped the clutch @ 4000" ok that's useless/unneeded stress throughout the car, the motor, the drivetrain, the tires, and the suspension. c'mon man. it's a f'in escort! how massive was this burnout?
and seriously what's this turbo 3.8 BS..... I see most of your posts and everyone on the whole board can agree that you need to lay off the ritalin, think seriously here, and do something w/ all your spare time like work, or do something REAL to improve your car. And this is a flame. I've read so much crap from you in the last few month's I don't even bother to read posts anymore w/ your name on it. Go on nethirdgen like everyone says. I'm just fed up w/ reading your crap.

and kyle stop egging him on. just be proud that you have the bird, and a sleeper of a escort. the only prob, is that you have to be like monkie and LOOK for races, since people don't think "fast" or even look twice when they see a 'scort. just be like monkie and free rev the scort all over town (or in his case the '6er 'maro) and MAKE people race you.

and to the board administrators, I think we need to bring in a "kill/race board" and monkie can be the moderator, since all the posts will be his. kind of like a daily diary, since no doubt he'll have stories of all the escorts, grandma driving buicks, metros, prisms, rusted V6 mustangs, and the '90 4cyl grand prix's running w/ 1 dead cylinder.

aw he*l, I'm done...

BTW to celebrate new years a friend of mine kept tryin' to run over a junker scort. wrecked the hatch, made all the seats so close to each other that I coulda swore it was a uniseat...

oh yeah gotta add my SIG EVERYTIME LIKE MONKIE

o clear things up. Um if I had a scanner I would scan my time slip in for my escort and T/A. Yes it would run a 15.5 or a 15.6 or maybey slower if I miss a shift or something. Look I have this need to modify something on every car I get, so I decided to do somethign to my everyday car that would beat a lot of ricers. So I took a normal looking Escort Gt and didn't go after a big wing and stupid *** 25" whells and bright yellow paint. I went with head proting and other stuff that actually improves performance.
As far as getting dates, dude I can get dates in a ****ing 82 Malibu Classic station wagon that was spray painted orange and was striped like my High Schools football helments. Yes I even once got laid in the back of it, and yes the girl was from another school so she didn't think the car was cool at all. SO I don't worry about what car I pick them up in. If a girl don't like me because of my car, well **** her, who cares I wouldn't want her anyways.
Now as for Monkie... he is an imature 16 year old. It is amazing how different your driving habbits are when your 19, 21, or 25. I remember when I first got my Drivers License, I was doing burn outs and racing everything. I would imagine that everyone on this board would act that way if they we just getting their F-body and were 16. So lay off the race post flaming. It is useless abuse on his car, but we have these cars to have fun. SO if he out runs his gradmas 84 Buicl LeSabra V6 with his Camaro and thats what he wants to do fine, so be it. His car won't take it much longer and then he will shut up.
I guess I will be done for now. Im sure someone else will have something smart to say about my "Performance Scort" which I supose a Civic isn't a performance car either but the V-Tecs will bust a 2.8's *** . Yes it will and don't say it wont.
