160 I think. That is if you're talking about the ones out of the 4th gens.

I have a 3.4 in my 2000 Grand Am. I know its FWD. Anyway, they rate it at 170HP, and the GTs w/ Ram Air are rated at 175.

My car is also rated 0-60 in 7.8 sec. Haven't actually timed it yet.

Yeah I have heard mixed reactions about the HP nubmers off of the stock 3.4L in the F-body. I have heard everything from 160-180 HP, so who knows. I would estimate 165 to be on a safe side. As far as torque goes, I have no idea.
This is what will be needed for the swap. The entire 3.4L. All the parts between the 3.4L & the 2.8L are interchangeable. Everything will bolt up. The only other thing that you will need from the 3.4L will be it's fuel injectors. You can't use the intake, well unless you want to reroute all those little plastic vaccum lines & not use your stock distributor. I would suggest a full rebuild & take your time & do it right & make it really pump. Forged EVERYTHING that you can find.

how does 200 torque sound... makes sense.
2.8 = 165
3.1 = 180
3.4 = 200

I should clarify what I said in my last post about rerouting the vaccum lines. What I meant was if you used the 3.4L intake things would not work. The vaccum lines would have to be shaped differently or something plus you can't use your original distributor if you use the 3.4L intake. I hope that what I said before is now clarified. Later guys.

Front wheel drive 3.4's got the aluminum heads and should be able to get around 20 HP more than the iron headed 3.4's on fourth gen. F-Bodies. So if a stock 3.4 firebird makes 160hp, the FWD Grand Ams would make 170-175.

fwd (the ga motor) 3.4 = 98-01
there's a few years and alot of evolution between there.... there's gotta be more of a difference there. don't forget engine tuning and the like.. don't correct me on the years if I'm wrong, tho I prolly am..

I am wrapping up my 2.8-in-disguise for the smog people in LA.
I can't wait.
All I know is it's alots of small details that will bring big results!
Make it real easy,have both side by side and start recreating the 2.8, onto the 3.4 block.
You'll win big time.
Saturday, I turn my key!
DO IT
