Hmmm... Begin the celebration

Ok guy's. I called the bender people again friday. Was REAL nice and everything. Die(1 3/8) still not ready, BUT they DO HAVE A 1 1/2", that will increase the runner ID to 1 3/8. THAT SHOULD BE HERE BY NEXT FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I went ahead and got the bigger one. I did some reading and the biggest size that you want to run on the V6's is 1 5/8 for pure race motors. So the larger diam will do nothing but help over the 1 1/4"

SO hopefully through next weekend I can start some preliminary stuff to get used to the bender and start the weekend after that on the ship out stuff.

PLEASE DO NOT FLOOD MY EMAIL WITH ORDERS/REQUESTS YET. I WILL POST WHEN A SET IS DONE AND UP FOR SALE. Dead 8 WILL BE THE FIRST TO GET A SET. PERIOD. After that I will try to make 3 sets a week. And 1 maybe 2 sets will be available through me the other will be on ebay.

PLEASE KNOW THAT THE SET THAT I WILL BE POSTING PICS OF ARE FOR DEAD HERO 8 AND HE HAS REQUESTED NOT TO HAVE AN EGR. I AM STILL TRING TO FIND A DECENT PRICE ON A SCAP YARD SET SO I CAN GET THE EGR PLATE STUFF SO I CAN MAKE THE EGR MOUNTABLE ON THE NEW HEADERS.

As for prices, the base set is $150 plus UPS S&H. Weight 25 pounds, from Zip 62999. I will also offer Stainless Steel versions. THESE ARE ABOUT TWICE THE PRICE OF THE BASE SET. Why?, S/S tubing costs 4-6 times more per foot over the mild steel alloy that I am using on the regular headers.

These will be hit with a high temp aluminum colored paint before shipping. They may arrive with some scatches, I will do my best to pack them to try to keep them from getting scatched up. if they do get scratched, I am only using the paint available at NAPA, Trash Auto, Auto Zone ect so they can easily be patched up.

Fell free to email me WITH QUESTIONS, if you want. My ISP sucks(I dropped them too) and I can only get online now at a freinds house or at school, so it may take me a while to get back to you. Sorry.

Ok I called today to make sure they got the Shipping INFO right. They did and it should have been shipped thisafternoon(Monday) I asked them to send me the tracking number so I will keep an eye out for that and keep track of it. It should only take a few days to get here from Central Inidana. The bender I know took like 3 days. So.... I am looking for the tubing now I think I found it locally again(thank G O D)
I also found a cheap supplier for welding spools so I am going to convert to MIG(And I even found aluminum spools that do not need conversion once I start doing the intake stuff!!)

But most EPA guys will not bother you if your EGR is still hooked up. Just FYI I knew ALOT of smoggers that did not care if you were running 120 octane, but as long as you passed thats all that mattered to them. Most sniffers look to see if everything is 1 hooked up, 2 operational, 3 actually works the way it supposed too. Other then that as before aslong as you pass they could really care less.

I said before that I know a guy in the EPA(some bigshot lawyer in Illinois) Where I live, and a future brother in law. I can ask him what is required and the process to get CARB'D. If its not too long and does not cost me any $$$ I will go through the process when I get time too.

Well, for the sake of the guys, congrats on getting the die. Hopefully you'll have them installing headers soon.

Loomdog, you could always swap your old manifolds on just for smog... if you had a cop pull you over & check, as long as they looked good, they might not think to check. Excuse= "I just put them on."

thats funny you say that check to make sure everything is hooked up and working properly. last time i went for emissions here in CT they basically sniffed the exhuast at idle and then put me up on the dyno roller thing and ran the car at 25mph and that was it. never popped the hood, and never looked at anything. and i had my home made c.a.i. in use then too. maybe CT isn't as strict as some other states...i am due up again in july and see how the numbers compare with the hooker this year....

TomP....good idea. I guess once you get the headers on and finally get the old rusted PITA stock manifold bolts out i wouldn't be that hard of a project to do before emissions inspect.....

get your car e-checked in Enon OH, just north of the base, they never bothered to pop the hood on both cars I brought there (79T-bird & 87 Regal), but then both passed.

I guess some states are stricter than others. And it depends on the mood the guy is in(hopefully he got laid the night before) and he may let some things slip. LOL But the few times I had smog checks in Va they do pop the hood, take a quick look around(sometimes I am beting to find something wrong so they can charge you $$$ to fix) But alot of the guys I knew there were cool about it. They saw custom headers all the time. They just did not care as long as everything was hooked up right(and it passed).
Anyway to those that did check the tracking number I got the die this mourning around 10 AM. I also ran out around 11 to get some tubes so I can mess around with this weekend. I also need to get a BIG a$$ cheater bar to bend these damn tubes!, the bender only has a 6 inch handle. BUT IT DOES WORK!. This weekend I will go out and get a drill press to make the flanges ALOT easier to deal with(BTW I have a 4 day weekend!) So thats more time for me to get this $hit straight.

IF there is not a CARB number stamped on the pipes, it is NOT SMOG LEGAL.
NOW, I'd be very interested in seeing these pipes "Legal"
Please ask, I'd like to hear the "legal issues answers".

the only places i would get pulled over and they actually check for something like that would be while cruising or at the street races.. last time i checked in fresno county its a $1k fine.. 90% of the time its reduced to around $200-300. just dont let a cop look under ur hood if ur engine is set up and ready for nos..

Ok the latest. I have to drill in holes into the handle so I can put on a longer cheater bar. I will try to get this done today(Me and My G/F are celebrating her birthday today) I will need a drill press for the flange's, I will be getting this in about 2 weeks when a traveling tool thing comes through. I can get one there 10 inch up/down and 5 speed for 39 bucks, with lifetime warr. Lowes has the drill bits and MIG wire I need. I have not ordered the collectors yet, That will have to be monday(sorry I completely forgot because I was wrapped up in the other stuff)

I previously stated that these would be 1 1/2 primaries, sorry there back to the 1 1/4 ID, the 1 1/2 tubing simply does not fit the die, I though that it would.

THESE WILL BE DIFFERENT THEN THE HOOKERS. I STILL CANNOT GET THOSE 3.5 IN TIGHT BENDS. Xenodragon PMed me a while back about these and I told him that there will be 2 series of these headers.

The first will be like the hedmans, the other series will be turbo compatable. COMPATABLE, with the turbo set up not only for it. They will be designed so that they can be swapped from side to side and the bend at the collector will be pointing forward for the 2-1 collector for the turbo cross pipe. Again the series 2 will be ready when I can get my motor pulled so I can make sure they fit right.
