3.1 Liter help

I have a question(not about my bird, about my GA with a 3.1) This may get locked cause it's not about my third gen, but i will try anyway. My beater/winter/grocery getter car is a 95 Grand Am with 84,000 on it. It just recently started to hesitate real bad, like a constant chug. I have replaced the IAC valve, it will eventually even out under hard accleration. But i mean pedal to the floor acceleration, and then it wont smooth out until about 60 miles per hour. I am thinking maybe a bad fuel filter? Does that sound right. It started out has a little problem, and now is a huge problem. Could the fuel filter start to go bad and then get worse. The car is in great shape, recent tuneup, new intake gasket, new trans lines, and now this. Any ideas?

I am not getting a code or light.

Thanks if you can help

Welll..... if it had a tuneup, the fuel filter should've been replaced...

This 3.1, does it have DIS? (Distributorless ignition?) Will this problem get worse as the car gets warm? If so, I'm thinking the DIS's crank sensor might be cracked. If they crack, they run great, but as the motor warms up, the crack expands, and throws off the ignition system.

Although, you did say you weren't getting a code... I think a cracked sensor will throw a generic "DIS problem" code.

Pull the plugs and see if any look fouled, or otherwise "different" than the others, or different than a "normal" looking plug. This could tell you if you have a problem with your cylinders or ignition.

Could this be a vacuum leak due to an incorrectly tightened intake manifold gasket?
