87 camaro 5.0 tpi
got a code 14 so i checked the sensor ohms and got around 2500, got the 5v reference with key on and unhooked.
hooked the sensor back up and with the key on then i only got 1.75v on the yellow.
started car to monitor the voltage and about a minute or two later then the voltage doubles to 3.5 which should be roughly correct. after that i can turn it off and with the key on ill get the correct voltage.
went out about an hour later after it cooled back down and got the same 1.7v on the yellow

is this a sign the ecu is going out

looking at getting a project convertible, what to look out for?

I guess im a sucker for project cars and while i have a hardtop iroc, ive always loved the looks of the convertibles.

I happened to stumble on a 87 or 88 iroc vert thats in somewhat rough condition. Top is destroyed, interior seats are pretty bad, the dash top is cracked (whos isnt) and paint is faded. BUT... everything else is there. 305tpi/auto, no dents/messed up panels, rest of dash is great, interior parts are surprisingly decent.

My issue... idk jack about the convertibles. Is there anything I should look out for when I go check it out again. Ill get the vin/rpo's and check that out. But anything thats a "deal breaker" i should know about. Mainly like...if this random part if broke/missing/bad then it will cost $2000+ to fix. I know the tops are around $750-1000 and im find with that. Since the cars been sitting, I expect the fuel pump to be bad and the front accessories needing to be replaced. **funny enough, I have extras for my hardtop. Even a fuel pump.

I've been reading about this stuff all night and I'm pretty confused at this point (AI summaries regurgitating false info certainly hasn't helped). I've been under the impression that TPI/TBI ECUs expect an AC/sine wave output directly from the VSS, but now I'm reading that the VSS instead sends a signal to the DRAC which then converts that AC signal to DC/square wave signal which the ECM can read? Does anyone know what the ECM actually expects to see? Specifically in regards to a 7730 ECM. Thanks!

I need to remove the column anyway, but I am having a weird gauge, headlight/interior light issue. The problem is that if I turn the headlights on or brights everything is fine, but if I turn the headlight **** (with the headlights on) to turn on the interior lights, my oil pressure gauge and fuel pressure gauge drop to zero. Headlight switch is new, I even tried a gauge cluster out of a 1990 camaro (interesting side bit of knowledge, the 1990 camaro oil pressure gauge reads from 0-80 and the gauge cluster out of my 1991 camaro reads 0-60), but same issue occurs with both clusters. I am assuming it's a ground issue somewhere, but I wanted a little more input, so I know what to narrow in on when I take the steering column out to fix the tilt steering pins that are shot.

I recently bought a 1986 Trans Am with the LB9 305 TPI and I've been trying to figure out why exactly it won't start. It'll fire on the first crank and then completely flood and refuse to fire any more. There's a strong gas smell as well, so I'm certain of it's flooded state.

What I've tried:
Unplugging TPS, MAF, various injectors.
Inspected the fuel pressure regulator (the diaphragm appeared to be perfect and the regulator itself looked fairly new).

Can anyone offer some advice? Thanks!

Running truck accessories, I had trouble routing the aluminum intake tubing without suffering from heat soak and lean spikes on hot restarts. I could have relocated the battery to the trunk and shot the intake in the battery’s position I suppose. Took a gamble, ordered an LS3 Corvette intake box. Had to cut out the hood latch but I wanted to install hood pins anyway. It wouldn’t clear a flat hood but fits a 3” cowl hood like a glove.

Just figured I would share this since I don’t find any information about it online and it’s a cheap alternative to have a true cold air intake. Another pro for the Gen 3 guys, it is the perfect time to run an LS3 MAF and larger TB.

Hey guys I'm running AEM water meth 30-3300 for the last number of years no problem. But now I'm gonna upgrade my pump to Prometh's PM190 pump. I got a great deal on it and I'm also gonna try out their nozzles at the same time. My problem is that the new pump pulls 16.5 amps and the wiring harness for the system uses a 18 awg wire. I tried taking the Pink + pump power wire and sending it to the MSD solid state relay to trigger that and use a bigger 12 awg wire back to the pump, it does turn on the relay but the controller throws a code 2 which is Open pump circuit which drives the pump.

If I take that same pink wire and go directly to the pump error goes away which is what I assumed but I'm not about to pull 16.5 amps through an 18 awg wire and risk a big fire. I've been reading that the controller PWM's the pump which would make sense since it's a progressive system and also my MSD ssr doesn't support PWM. So with all that being said if I used say a Nitrous solid state relay and connect the Pink + power wire to that everything should work as it normally should??

Also I used a multimeter on the pink wire and it's a very low current signal like in millivolts. I do realize that I'm at the point of just getting rid of this system and trying to figure out everything using my Dominator ECU but honestly that just looks overwhelming and it's very nice to have a little controller in the glove box that I turn a couple ***** for start and all in.

Anyways all opinions are welcome and this is the SSR I was referring to https://www.holley.com/products/nitr...parts/15620NOS

And this is the pump I'm using https://prometh.com/collections/wate...gh-volume-pump

T56 Magnum or TR6060 with L98

I'm trying to figure out what I might need for a swap in my '89 Iroc with the 700R4 and L98, and while I've found a million threads for the swap with an LS or old school small block, I can't find any information for doing it with the factory L98.

For parts, I see that I'll need the transmission, the clutch, pedals, crossmember, and a custom driveshaft. And I think a digital gauge cluster or else the speedometer won't work. The car has hydroboost instead of the normal booster, not sure if a swap is needed with that, and I don't know what kind of adapter may be needed to bolt up the transmission to the L98. Nor do I know what the situation is with the splines or flywheel. And by extension the starter. And what else I haven't even considered.
