| 1989 Chevy Camaro RS Coupe w/ 305 TBI and 700R4 Tranny. I started off not liking this car cause it had a lot of wiring mess. I got it and it didn't run. After a lot of troubleshooting i found out it was the VATS. So i bypassed it. Then the tranny wouldn't go out of 2nd gear. So i had that rebuilt ($300, not a bad deal). Car ran with no problems for about 3 years. Then the fuel pump went out(wires shorted inside the fuel tank, i think i got lucky and didn't blow myself up). Replaced that and the sending unit. Been working fine ever since. Now i have to get emissions testing done so I've been trying to hook everything back up to stock. The previous owners had bypassed the fan circuits and put in a 3rd party fan relay, also they had bypassed the fuel relay with a hot wire to the fuse box. I believe they did all that cause they couldn't figure out that the ECM was bad. So i replaced the ECM and got new relays and temp and fan sensors to hook everything back up stock. I started out not liking this car because of all the 3rd party hook-ups and bypasses that was on the car. But since it's pretty much back to stock and i haven't had too many problems out of it, its really starting to grow on me. It still has a few problems with it like excessive smoke out the tail pipes when getting on it and it seems to be running a lil rich and a little high idle. But that's next on the list to try and get fixed. |
