New headliner and sail panels Well thats the basics... now a little history on the car... History: Back in June of 03', I purchased this car as a parts car for my 86 firebird that I had been fixing up... I bought the car banged up in the front from an older guy who slid into a guardrail post with the left front fender. He had been told the frame was bent, and to fix it would be big $$$. So to make a long story short, I ended up fixing this car up. I intially bought it for, yup, it's typed right, 600 bucks... From then on, the car was on the road with the new motor, the t-5 conversion, and no paint lol... primer fender hood and nose! I managed to make it to the track where it ran a 12.8 @ 110. The following spring, I had saved enough cash to get the car painted. May 04' it was on the road in it's splendor, looking sharp! I enjoyed the car through the season, and really only experianced problems with the carb. 05' would come to be a short year for the car out on the road however. Come August, I broke several parts just lightly accelerating down the highway - the transmission, the driveshaft, and at this point, I knew there was only going to be one way to get it fixed properly - and that was to get rid of the t-5. I have a feeling however that i probably did it in after sneaking up to the track and running high 1.60 60's on that poor t-5... after pulling a 12.0 @ 114 out of the car with the new better carb in place. Anyways, after breaking the car, it was put away for a long rest. I pulled the trans and inspected the damage, found out how serious it was and that was it... trans on the floor and car up on jackstands. Over the winter of 05/06 we had some warm days up here in new england in febuary - I finally decided that since i was already 1/3 of the way to having the motor out of the car, that i should just sieze the oppurtunity and paint the engine bay as I had wanted to do for quite some time. Now, here it is March of 06', and the car is looking better than ever. Although I still have plans, such as interior upgrades and the flame job on the front... The "Evil TA" will live on, although it has neared completion... Here's some vids... Dyno time... pre engine bay painted, pre 1.6 rockers, pullies and new distributor (old one was mysteriously pulling timing) http://www.ss-perf.com/videos/dyno42005.wmv |
