RockinGTA89's 1989 Pontiac GTA Trans Am
I purchased my GTA back in 2003 from a independent owner. The car had 49,000 original miles on the clock! Visually the car looked beautiful for it's age with only has one rust spot forming over the sail panel near the left side t-top. However, mechanically the car wasn't running right and i could tell some the oem GM multech injectors were partially to be blamed for. So when i brought it back to my shop from Rockford IL, I did my magic bringing the car back to full song.

The vehicle currently still runs the stock 350 TPI, however i have installed some aftermarket products and did a few minor modifications. The listing goes as follow: hypertech coil kit minus the cap & MSD street fire stock appearing spark plug wires, a/c delco platinum spark plugs, a Stant 180 t-stat, a Jet fan switch, K&N air filter, T/B bypass, T/B air foil, ported intake and exhaust on stock heads, ported intake plenum, 3" Random Technology Exhaust System and now I recently deleted the Air pump equipment & plumbing, making the engine bay alot more cleaner!

The suspension components are made up of aftermarket KYB adjustable shocks and struts, lower spohn control arms, and TDS wonder bar. A few more components will be purchased in the nearby future to make "Operation: WS6 enchanced" complete...

The transmission is the modified 700R4 with a hd shift plate, newer friction material including a kevlar band and a S-10 style 2,800 stall converter....

The rearend is still the stock Australian borg-warner 3.27 9-bolt...it's still doing a good job and no shuddering is heard...yet! The posi still works well!

The power of the GTA is transfered to a newly set of directional Goodyear's P245 50ZR16s Eagles HP ultra plus....a pretty penny for these tires but only the best will do for my pride and joy!

The past...
In July of 2005 i attended a "drag day" at US 41 and i have to say i had a blast...it was the first time in my life i ever drag raced and the first time i ever driven my GTA at a racing event! Out of 10 total runs, my best time was 14.390 secs @ 95.93 mphs. Not bad for stock car that, at the time, had the original stock 700R4 set up. While at that even i broke the stock rubber trans mount...amazing what torque these ol vehicles can produce!
After the even i replaced it with a polyurethane version by energy suspensions...

That same year i also participated in the 2005 Hot Rod power tour. I only drove from Brewer stadium in Wisconsin to the 1st stop point which was at the JC Whitney plant in Sycamore IL. '05 was an awesome year for i had fun cruising and also the 05 White Sox won the World Series! I even drove my car to a post season game! AHH!!! What memories!

The present...
So now it's 2008, i've have put a lil more then 40,000 additional miles to the clock...and i still enjoy driving her from time to time. I've only driven her only to a few selected car shows and her last hurrah before i put her away will be at the Morris county car show...

The future....
2009 will mark the 20th anniversary of the GTA's existence and i want to celebrate next year with a full restoration job starting with the body to the interior leather seats...Currently the car isn't all that bad looking but with the age of the rubber weatherstripping to the fading bumpers and the cracked oem rubber rear spoiler...it's about time i get to it and show the world once again that this "Flame Red Metallic" Phoneix will fly proud once again!
