This is my baby, she's a work in progress. She's an '89 Camaro RS that when i bought, had a 305 TBI, and i ran her till she had a little over 144,000mi. Then the TV cable broke and I parked it. initally i was going to have the tranny rebuilt, and a new TV cable installed, but then i came across a slightly used 350. it was my neighbors. he wanted to put a sb 400 into his car so he sold me his 350. this motor has been bored .030, i put a .487/.490 cam from comp cams, it has a melling high volume oil pump, new bearings through out, new crank, new hardened push rods, double roller timing chain. i also have vortec heads that have had a 3 angle valve job, screw in studs, new springs, cut the spring seats, valve guides, and new retainers. i am using 1.6 roller rockers. had it checked for leaks and cracks, then millid .010 to make shure they sat flat on the block. on the outside of the motor i put on a cyclone intake manifold, a holley 650cfm double pumper quadra jet replacement w/ vaccume secondaries, a mallory fuel pressure regulator a set of 1 5/8 primary w/ 3" collector hooker comp shorty headers, HEI distributor, MSD plug wires, 165 fan switch and 165 t-stat. i re used the serpentine system, but i deleted the a/c and the air pump, then painted everything black to match the engine compartment. oh yeah the block and heads are painted a dark ford blue. i know this is sac relig, but i did it because i wanted the block to be the same color as the car. In the process of all this we rebuilt the transmission, luckily. first gear was ok, second was showing some wear, third was in bad shape, and fourth was almost shot. and worse of all, reverse should not have been able to work but luckily it did.
once the motor is up and runnin i have a 4" cowl hood to put on her. that will look nice. as for the interior i have switched the interior over from grey to black. all new carpet, got some black door pannels and arm rests, then i put in a pair of racing seats that are blue and black, i painted the vents white, and all of the interior pannels have 3 coats of black paint on them. im puting in a guage pod for the oil pressure and the water temp. and i put in a nice black and chrome grant steering wheel. the only thing i still need to do to the interior is find somewhere to recover the back seat to match the front seats.
so its all in place but its just not quite there yet. i still need 2 pieces for the gfx that are on there way, and we are still working on the electrical system since we ripped out the computer. the motor doesnt run yet but we have a few minor things to button up on her, then i need to have a 3" exhaust put on her to go with the headers. after that i have subframe connectors, a panhard bar and lower control arms that need put in. i will also sand down the entire car myself then prime it so that come next spring i can get her painted.
