| John81's 1991 Pontiac Trans Am | |||
| I purchased this Trans Am in August 08. Originally I intended to just polish it up, get a professional paint job and just enjoy it. Unfortunately I got bored over the winter and accidentally ripped the entire interior out of the car lol. So far I've replaced the carpets with medium grey carpet from stockinteriors, closest match to the factory color I could find. The radio pod was cracked in a few places so I got a new OEM pod. My headliner was sagging like most so I'm currently in the process of recovering it along with the sail panals and sunvisors. Next on my list for the interior is either recovering my original seats or replacing them with grey leather 4th gen T/A seats. I haven't decided on subframe connectors yet, I know these cars can really use them but I would prefer to keep a stock appearance. I do plan to add a steering box brace however, those were at least offered on some third gens. I do plan to rebuild the entire front suspension but haven't decided on rubber or poly bushings. I don't race so I don't need poly and the added rigidity and noise might not be too welcome, I do want to tighten everything up though. So far the drive train is pretty solid. I considered a few mods but ended up leaning more towards staying stock and just cleaning or replacing whats needed. Eventually I'm sure the engine will need some serious work (120k miles already), when that day comes I'm considering an LSx/T56 swap, hopefully by then I can afford it! By next spring my car will be repainted the original factory color, Bright Blue Metallic. At that time I'll also be replacing my wheels with the original style PW7 cross lace wheels. Either remanufactured or restored originals, depends on what I can find and afford. |
