BrokenGlytch's 1987 Chevrolet Camaro LT
Currently in need of a major overhaul. Engine was abused by previous owner; has tons of sludge buildup, problems with the cooling system, etc. Transmission needs an overhaul as it won't shift out of first 95% of the time. Came with A/C that needs to be rebuilt and converted to 134a. Needs a trip to the body shop to check that everything is aligned properly after a couple of parking lot fender benders (also on the previous owner's watch) as well as needing a new quarter panel, a dent that needs to be removed from another, and a professional respray as some of the paint is peeling from spots that chipped. The lower subframe had cracked at the power steering pump, as seems to be common in F bodies that are in front end collisions, but that has been repaired. Rear hatch leaks when the interior paneling is assembled, but not when it's stripped down, so that'll have to be fixed as well.

My dad bought the car for me back in April of 2001 for $500. There were at least 2 previous owners. I drove it for about a year as my job was only 5 minutes away on sub-35mph roads. I always intended to at the very least fix it up so I could sell it but lacking free garage space and not being all that enthused with mechanical work unless the mood strikes me has led to this car sitting for a lot of years in various stages of disassembly. Right now the engine and transmission are out of it and in my basement pending overhaul.

After seeing the production numbers, I think my plans have changed from chop job/performance mod to restoring it as close to showroom as possible. I might swap out a few parts for things that were available in other LT's, and I might do a few simple performance mods as I rebuild it, but nothing major.

Any suggestions or information would be greatly appreciated. Never knew I had anything even remotely rare before.
