I don't know about that. What about black Vette rims on a Bird? That's what I got they aren't on the car yet but I think they're gonna look killer on the gta. Check em out at the bottom of the page.

Personally the HRE series rims are nice. Also the billetindustries line-up, or get the ol' IROC rims powdercoated to your liking.

Ive got Hoopsters on my 86.I think they arent that bad 15's front and 16's in back gives it that old school raise with the new school look.

Re: BEST looking 3rd gen firebird & camaro rims

I love the look of the stock 91-92 16" rims but they do have there limits. I think a 17-18" version would be great. The Ronal Firehawk rims look very similar and seem like you could add the groves to them. Even looks like the center caps could fit.

Re: BEST looking 3rd gen firebird & camaro rims

I found a Jet Black IROC with some original 16 inch IROC's, polished, looks beautiful. At the same time, I'd like to go dump $3,000 into some 18 inch Billet wheels, but it just does not suit these cars.

I've became a member of the stock IROC lover's crowd, there's no look that beats it. Huge 18 inch chrome wheels look nice in a photo shoot, but rolling down the road, it looks completely silly.

PLUS! Less unsprung mass.

I love my zr1s (camaro F1s w/e). Look better stick better. They compliment lowered irocs very well. Lowered camaros on iroc rims looks silly i think. Just like big rims on a none lowered car look bad too.

18's aren't silly, I've seen 19's and some 20's that look good on 3rd gens. They only look silly if the car isn't lowered properly.

The way I worded that, it seemed kind of biased, it's kind of a tough situation for me. The wheels look good if the rest of the car suits it, such as a nice SS or cowl hood to fulfill that "bulky" look that bigger rims give a car.

It's a tough thing to pull off, big rims on an American muscle car, but if done in a tasteful matter, comes out awesome. Otherwise, I like the stock IROC look. I'm still confused myself, for now I'll be sticking with my IROC's, and most likely having them polished up real nice, maybe later on when I have the money sitting around, I'll get some nice 18's.

Re: BEST looking 3rd gen firebird & camaro rims

yeah it makes sence. I'm just not a big fan of huge rims in the first place. Especially big fancy rims. I like stock z06 18s and ones of that nature. I feel that 17s are a very stock sports car size and give a very aggressive yet not to flashy look to third gen camaros. Theyre not muscle cars theyre sports cars : )

Though the notion of a Muscle car as an American two-door with a big engine sold at an affordable price for street and drag racing is generally held, there is much blurring around its edges.
According to a contemporary issue of Road Test magazine (June 1967), a "muscle car" is "Exactly what the name implies. It is a product of the American car industry adhering to the hot rodder's philosophy of taking a small car and putting a BIG engine in it [...] The Muscle Car is Charles Atlas kicking sand in the face of the 98 hp (73 kW) weakling."[7] Author of the book Muscle Cars the quote is drawn from, Peter Henshaw, furthers that the muscle car was designed for straight-line speed, and did not have the "sophisticated chassis", "engineering integrity" or "lithe appearance" of European high-performance cars[7]
Opinions vary as to whether high-performance full-size cars, compacts, and pony cars qualify as muscle cars"

I'd consider them both a sports and muscle car. IROC's made a pretty darn good track car, along with their extremely slippery .34 drag coefficient, but in a sense they work a heck of a lot better for straight line speed. They also have that muscle car look to them, sort of.

But whatever you'd call it, I like them!

Those wheels look great. Are they a direct bolt on or did you need spacers? And where did you get them? Thanks, john

Re: BEST looking 3rd gen firebird & camaro rims

I'm rocking the 18" IROC's too, could have gotten away with a wider tire but I went with what was on the rims already 235/40 all four corners Kuhmo Ecsta AST's. I'm currently still stripping off the chrome and polishing the wheels, It handles great and I can rotate them kinda wish I had gone with a 245 though. Went nuts on the Irocs couldn't find anyone with a decent enough price to srtip and rechrome my rims so now they look like this. Name: JustinsPictures1009.jpg

blew the motor so the rims may change again too depends on what I come up with love this style just wish they were wider.

Re: BEST looking 3rd gen firebird & camaro rims

I haven't decided if i'm going to keep these on the car or not.. most likely not but the rears are 15x10 and have 295.50.15's on them.. they would make a great host to some fat drag radials.

they are very 90's..

Quote from my site, http://gentlemansmauclecar.tripod.com
There has been some debate amongst various friends and associates of mine regarding the use of the word MUSCLECAR to describe my T/A. Well, if musclecar only means cars built until 1972, its probably not appropriate. But I do not believe that a time period can be used to determine membership in that club. A musclecar in my humble opinion, has more to do with the design and intended use of the vehicle. Some folks says that a musclecar needs to be "over the top" regarding the way the car looks. (Stripes, spoilers, etc.). Again, I disagree to a point. It's all about the mechanicals, folks. Yes, musclecars HAVE been flashy and lets be honest here, a bit loud visually. And speaking of loud, I believe that sound can be a big part of the package. Anyway, it's about performance. All the image stuff can be there, but without the performance, it's just a facade like your favorite rice boy's car. case in point; does anyone remember the Ventura (nova) based 1974 GTO? It had the name, some stripes and graphics, but wasn't a GTO by anyone's (but GM's Marketing department) standards. Probably why it didn't sell.

BTW, I prefer the stock WS6 rims (Black Lace) here's a before polishing shot of mine.. you can see the after in this thread

these are actually my favorite rims of all time... thanks for posting the picture. I like stock wheels, but if you're going to get away from the stock, I like wheels that jsut aren't another 5 spoke variation

no offence to anybody (almost everybody) that uses 5 spokes on their 3rd gen.

Re: BEST looking 3rd gen firebird & camaro rims

If you imagine the body restored, pine needles washed off and the rims cleaned up... Then I quite like these ones that a PO stuck on. :P
Perhaps a size or two larger might be nice though. But not too big.
It is hard not to like them, they just look much less flashy and such than so many other rims people have posted pictures of.

I like how the rear tires fill the wells. Is that stock ride height?

Bluegrassz,
I think it is close to the stock ride height.

I typically like these cars lowered with a set of low profile tires, but those Billet Specialties wheels / tires look great on there.
