I wanna know what kinda tires all you guys are running and what you think are working good..... i have some falkens on a stock z wheel on mine right now.......

guess i should have cleaned them up...oops sorry ill get another in a sec after i clean them.....

Are they Falkens or Hankooks? I have Falken 245/50/16's on my GTA wheels. They look similiar to mine, but the Hankook Ventus looks almost the same,too. I have Bridgestone SO3 Pole Positions on order right now for my 18" rims I received yesterday.

Im lookin into getting a set cause Im down to nothing on all 4's. Ive had my Dayton Daytona Z's for about 50000 and it time to get some new wheels before I kill myself from a blowout!

The Falkens are the cheapest Z rated tire at $408.09 mounted/balanced and the place will balance the tires for free but only charge me $20.00 if I want to rotate and balance since I got the offset rims...

Im running Sumitomo HtrzII all the way around.

they are the Falken Zex 60 65, and have treated me pretty good actually....i might have to get a new rear set sooon but other than that i love em'

Here's mine............................................ lol any way I have some old yoko's on the car now but need new one's. I have had Nitto nt450's before and liked those. They are z rated and hae a pretty sweet tread design.

245/50-16 Eagle GS-C's. I haven't pushed them HARD, but they've been great so far. Take the turns without any complaining. Only had the rear end get a little loose once and I think it was because they were cold....

I've got the same Falkens as in the first pic. Sorry to say they may look cool but are one of the greasiest set of tires I've ever had on my car.

My old, worn out BFG Comp ZRs gripped better than these do new. Won't be buying them again...

really? i have those tires and i think they are great, you mean greasy as in like drag type? or handling? mine have been great to me and i wouldnt think twice to buy another....

I mean greasy like slippery. My old BFGs gripped better in straight line or handling. These new Falkens are also easy to screech at relatively low speeds. IMO might as well be a poseur tire.

Right now, I have Goodyear 245/50/16s on my '89 IROC-Z. In my opinion, they are a great tire, but it's almost time to replace them. I recently went to my tire dealer and he quoted me for $150 each on these. Then he showed me the Nittos in the same size- $100 each! And they even had a more aggressive tread design than the goodyears. With the goodyears, are you just paying for the name or what? I was also told that the Nitto tires had a stronger sidewall. Tell me what you guys think, I am really leaning toward the nittos. -89IRO

Maybe, but I know for a fact they make street tires too. Look on their website, they show them. The ones that they were trying to sell me (I think I will buy them once summer gets here) were street tires with a nice, aggressive tread design. -89IRO

Yes, the Nitto's are the 555R Drag Radials. They also have regular street tires too. Only run the D/R's on the back. They do wear pretty quick but traction is good at the track. They are OK in the rain when new but once the tread starts to get down I would slow down a bit. I pulled some 60 ft's in the 1.79- 1.85 range with these on.

Nitto makes the NT-555, and the NT-555DR. One being ther street, and of course, the DR being the Drag Radial. I have a buddy who is running the DR's, and isn't all that impressed. mileage vs. traction, they just don't seem to be worth it. on the other hand, I was beside an '01 SS a while back at the track. He told me he had Thunder Racing heads, Jesel valve-train, full exhaust w/ LT's, and a factory 3.42 gear w/ 6-speed. He ran a 12.01 spinning going into second and third(yes traction at Orlando sucks!) - Point being he ran a 1.81 60' on the regular NT-555's...not DR's...

The nittos I was looking at were the 450s, not the 555s. I got quoted for $100 for these tires. They are the only ones nitto makes for the size tire I need with 16" wheels. Anybody with experience with these tires? Opinions? -89IRO

I have them on my wife's '93 Mazda MX6. We just put them on about 1 mo ago..... maybe 2...... and all we've had around here since then is snow so I haven't had a chance to test them out.

The tires that were on there before were Sears "Response" or some crappy tire like that. They'd light off if you just accelerated in first after the clutch was out on dry pavement. They stunk.

Well the Nittos don't break traction if you do that even if you're in the rain. They stick.

They're kinda noisy though. Not bad, but noticable. We went from 205/55/15's to 215/40/17s so that could be part of it. The size we got have a max PSI of 50#!!! I have them at 40# right now and they're still pretty stiff. Not harsh but stiff.

Anyway..... IMO, they're good tires. They do pretty well in the snow considering they aren't at all made for it, so I hope that means they're AWESOME on dry asphault when it's +70* outside.

i can't believe i havn't seen anyone with the tires.i have Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position tires 245/50/15 fronts 295/55/15's in the back i highly recomend these tires there a bit pricey but worth every penny.

Yeah, those are rare sized tires, the 245/50/15. Not enough appreciation out there for them. Feels like your runnin a 45 series on a 17" rim. And Id know what you mean about pricey. I dropped a fat tax refund check on a set awhile back. Didn't get much use out of them before going to a 16" rim. Now their stacked in the garage with no luck trying to sell'em. Hell, I'd be happy to get less than half of what I paid for them. Killer tire indeed

I have a set of "Monarch Ultra HR4" 245/50/16 Directional Tires (I think Goodyear makes them but im not positive). I got a really good deal on them too. I like how the side walls look.

Be careful with the Faulkens. I had a front that seperated on the inside and bubbled up real huge about to pop thru the tread. Havent bought any since. Running Kuhmo's now.

Might be off topic but I saw somebody posted about how their old tires gripped better than their new ones. Of course it might just be the tire compound BUT don't forget that a used tire should grip better than a new since the tread blocks have less height for deflection. Also new tires need to be driven hard for a while to gain any kind of good measurable static friction.
I've got Kuhmo 712's and I'm thinking about going with the 711's. I've got drag radials so the track isn't a big deal, it's rain and dry traction. If I could afford em I would go with the Bridgestone's like somebody said. They are the best no doubt in my mind. You get what you pay for when it comes to tires. Cheap tires never have awesome handling AND tread wear AND noise AND rain. It's pick what's important and in your budget. I've cut 2.06 60's on these Kuhmo 712's 245/50-16 and I know I can get into the 1.9's so they work and the price is right. Dry weather I've found the Potenza, Eagles, and SP8000's to work the best and even better when they're on less than 50% tread.
I'd like to see if anybody has the Kuhmo 711's and if so, how do you like em? They're sub $60/per which is darn good and they look to have the same tread ad a dunlop SP8000. Obviously not z rated but still it would be interesting to see if they deflect much in the sidewalls or if they're just as solid.

I got 265/50 ZR16s. They're General XP2000s on gold GTA rims. I like the kool asymetrical tread design. I would like a higher profile tire, but the fronts rub the wheel wells now.

I believe about a year ago a member bought out a tire supplier and ended up with 30 sets of those. Not sure if they were the Yok's... I'd like to have a set of those myself if the dude still has them.. I lost all track of the the sale he offered.

My T/A has some Yoka's on it. Not sure of the size or the series but they are some damn good tires. I'll have to look tomorrow to see exactly what series they are.

I have the potenza's aswell but the re910 series, they are great tires, not to prices, and if you compare them on tirerack.com to tires that are $100 more, they are cheaper and better..

I got the 245 gsc's from slp. $100/peice for take offs with less than 10 miles couldn't beat it. Have about 10k on them and am totally satisfied, I think they look better than alot of tires out there two (tread pattern and side wall)

One the best tires ive seen are the nt555r once you heat them up youre good to go.

its not worth heating up street radials , too much wheel hop,if your going to be heating any tires up go with the bf goodrich gforce 2 drag radials thats the tires i take to the track and got my best time on them

bfg will hook better than nitto but youll get more life out of the nittos

These are my BSW Warrior HR 225/60R-15's. They have decent dry traction, and when its wet out i dont feel like im on the verge of death all the timei have some confidence i wont slide out. It was what dicount tire had, and I had done a massive burnout that day, and needed new ones heh heh. I think BF Goodrich makes these tires.
