Have any rear & side pics?
Any mods to the wheel wells??
Great looking stance!! Great looking Camaro!!
I was told I can't go bigger than 8" wide wheels or the tires would rub the inside wells unless it was cut out.

I dont have any good pics of the rear but i have a couple of the side view. You can go with a 8" rim and 4.5 backspacing and you will be fine with a 275 tire. I have seen it done on this board a number of times. When you move to a 15x10 you have to cut up the wheel well. This is what i had to cut out to make the rims and tires fit.

Re: Pic's of 3rd gens Camaro's with drag wheels?
84z28 - I like that the rear wheels don't stick out on your car and that they tuck in nicely. I'd like to get about the same effect, but I'd like to run a smaller rim since I'm only interested in getting 15/275/60"s on the rear of mine without hitting anything or modding.
I've been looking at the Centerline Polished Fuel wheels, and they have a 15"x8.5" wide wheel with a 5" back set and a +13mm OFFSET available.
So how will this positive "offset" effect the fit of the wheel/tire?? Also on some wheels, they don't even list a back set, just "off set" - what's a good off set wheel for the rear of a Thirdgen that'll tuck in as far as possible without modding (in a 15" wheel)??

84 z28 & Stephen--
Thank You for the info!! This is definitely something I saved in my "favorites" on the computer. Now I know what we may be in for when we decide on wheels & tires!!
WILL do it for sure if there's rust.

Did the set of warriors also have a +13mm offset too?? -Or were they "0" offset? You see, that's my dilemma...13mm is close to 1/2", so I might end up with essentially a 5.5" backspaced wheel, or am I over thinking this? Why does a wheel need to have both an offset and a back set anyway?? It doesn't make sense to me.

Offset is where the the center line of the rim meets the hub mating surface.
Backspacing is where the hub mating surface is measured to the outside of the back of the rim.
The two are completely different and both matter.

Re: Pic's of 3rd gens Camaro's with drag wheels?
they are different, but they measure the same type of thing, just using a different concept. offset on a 15x8 wheel with 4.5" backspacing is zero, but offset using a 15x10 wheel with the same backspacing is ~25mm. a 15x10 with 5.5" backspacing would be zero. backspacing is a much easier measurement to use, and is what's mostly spoken of in drag racing since regardless of the width of the wheel, backspacing won't change. it's ALWAYS the distance from the hub flange to the inside wheel lip. whereas offset changes based on wheel width.

Back rims have the wrong backspacing. Other then that looks good.

Whats your point. Your tires bulge more then the rim sticking out. You wanted a 295 then thats what hapens. Most people that have 15x10 rims go with 5.5 backspacing. That eliminates most of the work to the inner fender. In my eyes 6.5 is ideal but you have to cut and re shape the inner fender. Get a 15x8 and put a 275 on it and you will get the same look with less issues.

Re: Pic's of 3rd gens Camaro's with drag wheels?
Any running a 15x10 with a 6 inch backspace? Post pics if you do!
Or a 15.9.25 with a 5.5 BS?
I am about to order wheels and need to decide between the 2

Just to clarify for those who may still be confused about the difference in wheel backspacing and offset:
http://www.tirerack.com/FAQ/results....gory=Wheels#66
if you click the word "offset" it will show a drawing of a wheel which will give a better visual of how these are measured.

You guys have the set up I want, while retaining streetable status.
1) Rears, was there any modifying for the rear wheel wells?
2) With 165's up front how is it during normal driving, parking & turning?

Re: Pic's of 3rd gens Camaro's with drag wheels?
Hello everyone, For those running a 15" x 8" wheel with 5.5" bs, Did you have to do any modifications to the inner fender? I have a set of prostars and they seem to be very close to the inner fender. I bought 3/4" spacers and that gives me lots of clearance, but I'd rather not run spacers if I can get away with it. I haven't tried the fitment with tires mounted. What would be the best tire to run on these wheels... I'm thinking 275/60/15, or 275/65/15.
I currently have mickey thompson sportsman d/r 28/12/15 on stock z28 rims... and no clearance issues.

How about a 29x12.5 15 sportsmen all tucked under nice and neet
on a 10.275 x 15 wheel fits like factry..(Now)
I did have to use off set bushings for the LCA
DROPPED the car down about 2" inch ..looks sweet.

Re: Pic's of 3rd gens Camaro's with drag wheels?
this is the tallst set i could fit with My GFX good for mock up and beat up!
the drag Radials are 1 inch shorter at 28"tall and 1 inch wider with the same cross sec... 13"
and the sportsmen pro, wrinkle wall tires, bite better. to start with
almost has good as the ET streets. also a non Radial tire.
But.
doing the same thing has i did with the drag lites, buyn 2 more rims for the Radials
will be posting a add for the 6 weld drag lites all 15"
2x 3 1/2" (coopers tires new)
2x 8" (et streets tires new)
2x 10 (mickytomson tires 3/4 gone)
Tires are like shoes..ya can never have too Many..
so unless mom is still buys your shoes...why only have one pair. it's only money
just shop is all
