I was wondering if anyone had pics with a 3rd gen with torqlite wheels. I think it would look good, but I would like to see from a picture. Preferably the 17" ones, but any pics would be nice. Thanks.

Yeah they come in 17's. I would get the 8" for the front and the 9" width or the rears. That was the size I was looking at. IIRC they can be found for $160-180 a wheel depending where you buy them.
Due to the fact that they are polished, they wont stay shiny for long. I would probably get them clear - powdercoated to preserve the finish.

Where do they come in 17x9". I only see 17x8" on the AR website?
yeah they look sweet on the car..but they are not the gta wheels guys..I love the gold wheels..I may end up paintin the star gold..havent thought yet..
I would get the center part powdercoated gold, then have them spray the whole wheel with clear and bake it again (I think you can do that??). Because I would rather have a clearcoated wheel than a polished wheel that looks good for a week then is white and you have to rub it with polish again!

87_GTA5.7 what rim width and offset were the ones you tried on. The most I could find about the offset on these wheels was that they come in 0 offset. I guess that means they pop out a little. Anyone know the stock offset for the front and rear wheels?

I PMed him about the offset. He said he got them from a buddy who had them on a S-10, So he did not know the off-set.
I wanted a set pretty bad but I was concerned about whether they were strong enough for autocross duty.. Most drag race rims aren't. I just dont know if these are drag-race rims or just meant to look like it.
The rear is a 274 45 18..and the front 245 40 18. And clear coat will not stick to polished serface for long. You cant not scuff it and make it look good..clear(paint) wont stick uless its scuffed with somethin..I had mine GTA wheels polished and the center paitned to match my gold strips on the hood....they look awsome..I just love my car and love to keep it clean..I dont drive it in the rain so it dosent get dirty...I think polished looks sooo much sexyer than chrome..thats me. and BJ350..I forgot to call him last night..we had some bad weather but Ill get a hold of him today for ya man..
Yeah, are these rims supposed to be drag race wheels? They look pretty weak, but I first saw them in the 15" version on a 4x4 pickup. They look just as good 15" inside mudders as they do 18" inside lo-pro tires.

Id race my car with them...BUT it wont hook with street tires..and if I put an 18 in DR..its still ganna be all over. So for racing Ill go back to the GTA wheels with my slicks. One more thing I asked my buddy about the offset..he said he thought 0 all the way around. But thats just what he thought..

I know the thread is a little old, but I fired off an email to American Racing weeks ago, and finally got a response!
Quote:
The torqlite wheel is a one-piece cast wheel that is load rated to
1600lbs per corner for a 17" wheel. All our one-piece wheels go through
radial, cornering Fatigue and impact testing that meet SAE standards. So
unlike a drag wheel these are meant for more than just straight lines.
Man, those 18's look fantastic! What's the deal with the magnesium ones? Do my eyes deceive me, or do they not have the center star?
I would say its just a bad pic. If you look hard enough you might see it i could have sworn that i seen it but i dont kno lol killer rims tho. How much are they? -Matt

1st off AWESOME RIMS. I like them as with most 5 spoke.
Your wrong about the clear coat not sticking.
You can Powder coat over polish and chrome and its recomended for any of the candy, translucent powders actually.
There are quite a few products out there for Clear coating polished products.
POR-15 Glisten PC, amazing stuff. I like it because I can use it on anything thats polished. aluminum,brass,etc....
Zoop Seal . I like this also but its not cheap and you do have to reapply it eventually.
Permalac , Imeron and VHT clear. never used em though.
You may want to explore catalyzed waterborne polyurethane-acrylate also.
Now only if I could get that rim in a 17x11 for the rear.
i was kinda sad when i found this thread last year, i found the torqlites when they first came out and decided on them for my formula and saw that no one had them on their birds--- so much for being original! :P
but yeah im still gettin'em
