Not bad, I'm in the same boat, I've pretty much decided to repaint mine the original color (gold and black) to match the car since I already decided to repaint the car the original color with a couple subtle changes later this year when I paint it.

Mine are not stock rims but they are 15's. When I bought the car they looked terrible but i got one of my buddies to sandblast and paint them for me. let me know what you think. this was before I got new center caps for them too..

Ditch those ugly low end things and get some thing bigger and wider than a 7 inch. Get at least a 16 inch rim at a minimum.

Re: Thoughts on painting stock 15 inch wheels

I agree. If you have the money get something in the 16-17 inch range. I had mine done that way because I was on a budget build. this winter when I do the body I'd like to get something in the 17" range.

Hey man, that's my wheel

I painted those so I could use them for the winter. They were originally red and were on my 89 RS when I bought it. Now they don't fit over its brakes anymore and the 92 (purple) needed something for the winter. So less than $100 later, I had a set of black wheels.

Re: Thoughts on painting stock 15 inch wheels

CP, I have 16" stock wheels on my RS that don't look a whole lot different than what you have pictured. The car is red,and the sections between the spokes are red.Make that WERE red.Now they are rosey-posey pink which is totally uncool.I am in the process of painting the pink sections Rustoleum gloss black.I have 2 wheels done and they don't look too bad.Actually 3 but the first one I did looks like monkey poop so I'll be doing that one over.Taping off the shiny sections of the wheels is a PITA,but I'm getting better with each one I do.When they're done they'll look good from about 10 feet away, but if you get close to them (such as kneeling down to check tire pressure) you're going to see the imperfections.I say tough Sheeite; paying $30 for paint, mineral spirits and masking tape for 4 wheels beats paying $200 per rim.I'm still taking care of some mechanical issues and I need money for that.Like they say,"Chrome won't get you home!"

Re: Thoughts on painting stock 15 inch wheels

its funny because since i bought the car i have hated these trashy looking rims. i posted on another site wanting someone to photoshop my rims black. now i know its time to paint those stupid rims. black on red looks a hell of alot better.

Are those American Racing S200's? I've always likes them.

What's up with your rear end alignment?

The painted black stock wheels look good, but maybe they could look even better if the entire wheel was painted.

To each his own... but I love the stock rims. I think putting huge rims and small tires on these cars messes them up and looks like people are trying to copy the imports.

I believe they are but am not 100% sure on it.

As for my rear end when I put it up on jack stands i put the jack stands under the axle and after my tranny being out so long the rear end started moving and thats how it sat for awhile.

I wouldn't go with anything above 17" personally. However I would go 16" look at thirdgenranch or hit the junk yards you should be able to pick up some stock 16 wheels for cheap. They look good in black with the edges polished.
