I just thought I'd share my experience with these and show off the new wheels a little bit. I used 1.5 inch adapters all around. I'm running 13" HD vette brakes up front and a moser 9" rear.
Here's where I had to use the BFH to get some clearance:
Where I removed material with the angle grinder:
I used 3m rubberized undercoating and covered everything up:
The adapters I used:
Not the best picture, but shows the clearance for the rears, I can run my fingers around so about .5 space.
Your not going to weld in a replacement flat plate, for the bulged area you cut out? I've seen the cutting before, but never without welding in a flat replacement plate.
The main reason I didn't weld a plate in is because I can't weld. There's a good half inch between the tire and any part of the wheel well so I got a little lazy and called it good.
I chose 1.5" adapters because thats what I measured for. The front spindles are modified ones from Ed miller for the 13 HD brakes. It pushed the stock wheels out about .500 - .600 inches so thats where the 1.5" came from for the fronts instead of the 2" . I have a moser 9" rear, so I decided not to assume anything and measured for myself. I measured 1.5". Thanks anyways on the center caps.
Yes, they are Spohn's tubular LCA's. Nothing special about the bushings, poly where it mounts to the chassis and rod-end mounts to the rear.
For the e-brake. I will dig up the part numbers for the exact cable I used, I can do that tonight. I believe they are for a 91-92 camaro, but don't quote me. I had to open the end up a little that went over the hook on the e-brake. Then I used a couple spacers I clamped onto the extra cable up at the adjuster. I'll see if I can get some pics.
The brand and part number for the cables I used is:
Tru Torque C94597
I had to open up the part that slips over the e-brake "hook" with a dremel/die grinder. Also, added some "spacers" up by the adjuster. Basically the cables are little long, but the sheiling(sp?) is perfect length. So I clamped the spacers between the steel fitting thing at the end of the cables and the equalizer. I made them by using wire rope clamps from Lowe's, under $5. I'll get some pics next time I have the car on jacks.
For those of you using the 4th gen rear, just use the entire 4th gen parking brake setup. That's everything... the handle and lever mechanism inside, the stock 4thgen cables, and the 4thgen cable bracket that bolts to the rear end. Of course you also need the actual brakes themselves too.
Looks great!
But I'm with Stephen... I would think you would want something else there to brace it.

Your car is obviously not just a cruiser, it can MOVE.
If you spent $ on the drivetrain, it wouldn't be a bad thing to spend some more $ on having 2 4" x 6" (approx.) plates welded in. It would really suck to have the chassis fold in, even a little, in those areas.
Fair enough. Maybe if I get around to it I'll have some plates welded in. If the chassis ever folds in or any sort of buckling I will post it here and you guys can tell me I told you so! haha.
oh....and that combo is about to stop being n/a.....hehehe.
I just got a set of C5 wagon wheels 17 front 18 back. I'm waiting for wheel adapters/spacers to come, should be here friday. Ouch the 2 rear tires cost almost as much as everything else. My wheels are in mint condition, but been thinking of buffing and polishing them to have a the chrome look. Just wondering how long it will take to do it????
I will post a pix and take a poll, paint or polish let everyone give their 2 cents worth and see their pix's.
i have the 11s on my car with a 4th gen rear wish i had the moser my wheels stick out like 1/2" and ive been cracking my fenders every time i hit a huge bump. good looking car
here are some pics of my 4th gen rear with the zr1 11s on the rear with 1" spacer could go closer with shim spacers. i would love to bring them back under the fenders to give it a tighter look
Got mine on yesterday. 17 front 18 back. I love them. I used 2 inch spacers/adapters on F/R and have 2.25" of clearance. My setup is stock 84.
I want to cover vette logo. I'm making bird for center caps logo, not sure gold or black. Someone asked me to do something for camaro. BUT what logo??? Limited space, I really don't want to do multi color if I don't have to.

If you cut out the bump in the center like Thomas Aquinas will they fit without spacers?
What are the back spacing and offset #s on the ZR1s?
I am looking in to custom BOZE rims with deep lips and would like to go 9.5"front 11"rear X 18
If you are RESTORING, why would you want adapters?
because, i found a set of enkei 17 x 9 1/2 wheels, with 275 x 40 x 17 tires, and
they are off a 1998 camaro ss. and i was told i would need spacers, to put these on
a (82-92)third generation Camaro, coming from a fourth gen. Is this correct?
clint

Correct.
The typical size to use is 2" on all 4 corners. You can run smaller in the rear (1.25" if i understand right) & yours rears will sit inwards like the stock 16" wheels do. Most just use the 2" all the way around, for a better look in the futment of the rear wheels.

Your rims look to be actual factory ZR-1 take offs not replicas like some, you can tell by how deep the hole is where the lug nuts go, on the replicas the depth of the hole on the 9.5's and the 11's are the same, what backspacing do you have , 36mm or 50 mm on the 11's? should be 36 if ZR-1's, the GS's had the 50mm 11's

What would happen if you took off the spacers?, would they rub on the inside of the frame? Because if you took them off, they would obviously sit inside more!!
