Want shorter tires on stock GTA wheels suggestions and Pics please!!!!

I need to buy new tires. I dont drive my car much and the tires that came on it were dry rotted from it sitting before I bought it. Would like the look of a shorter tire because of the shorter sidewalls. Dont want anything crazy though just a little shorter. I also dont want the sidewall to bulge out like it is now. It has the stock 245/50/16 tires on it now.

Ill try to post some pics later to show what I am talking about (sidewall bulge) though I think you all know what I mean.

Want to see pics, lots of pics of different size combos that acheive the shorter sidewall height and flat sidewalls (no bulge).

Re: Want shorter tires on stock GTA wheels suggestions and Pics please!!!!

After some searches I see some folks saying that on our cars that the shorter tires end up leaving more fender well exposed. That makes sense, I never thought about that situation. I really dont like the fender not being filled.

I guess Ill have to pick my poison huh? Anyone have any pics with stock wheels and tires with shorter sidewalls.

I guess the only way to have shorter sidewall and full wheel well is to go to a larger diameter wheel?

225 is too narrow to put on our 8" wheels & still look anywhere near decent. No sense in putting a tire on, that is (practically) narrower than the wheel is.

If you want less tire to fender gap, lower the car. You could go up in wheel size, but typically if you go up in wheel size, you go down in sidewall size, to keep the overall tire diameter the same. If you change the tire diameter, you'll throw off the speedometer and (if the car has one) the computer controlling tings, based on rpms/speed/etc.

Lowering is the best way to get rid of the fender to tire gap. Shorter sidewalls lead to stiffer rides, due to less sidewall to absorb road irregularities & the suspension not being designed for the increased stiffness.

I never said anything about looks.

My post about 225s wasn't about looks, as much as fit & everything still working. 225s are too narrow to effectively be used on our wheels & will throw off the speedometer as well as other aspects of computer management of the drivetrain.

Just because you CAN do some things, doesn't mean you SHOULD.
