Hi there,
I'm new to the forum (and to the Camaro).
Just bought recently a 91 RS with 245/50R16 wheels on it.
Today I had the 4 tires replaced as they were in very bad condition.
I paid also for balancing, and later on in the day, I noticed they had fitted those ugly 'conventional weights' (please see attached picture).
I was shocked they did that on a sports car wheel. I understand that would be done on a regular passenger car with regular tires, but on a sports car with wider wheels, I would've expected they would have used those 'adhesive back stick-on wheel weights' or similar that get stuck on the inner side of the wheel... right now, the wheels look terrible (see pic)
You might find my question irrelevant or dummy, but I'm from Europe and not used to the things being done here on cars, so I wanted to ask about your opinion... so I can go tomorrow to that place and tell them to remove/replace them and/or give me my money back... that is unacceptable to me cosmetically, I don't care if the car is 20 year old (btw I went to W*M, b/c is just by my place so it was convenient, although it might have not been the best thing to do...).

Just as an anecdote, I find similarly that here when they change your oil, they do it the old fashion way, by lifting the car and removing the bolt on the bottom, while in almost everyplace 'on the other side' they suck it from the top (even Mercedes figured out it is more efficient that way and do that here on the dealers).
I don't know about were you live but around here you have to request the stick on kind. Last time I had my tires done they did the same thing and ruined the clear coat on my rims. I don't care as much now bc I bought new rims for my car and have a buddy who will do the mount and balance for me.

Most places I have worked only use stick-on weights when requested. If the correct hammer-ons are used they shouldn't damage the wheels and only using weights on the inside lip is not as accurate as both sides, and may result in a high speed tire shake. If wheels are cleaned with the right cleaner stick-ons will not fall off. I'm currently working at a VW dealer and all there aluminum wheels have no lips for hammer-ons and must use sticky's...I've never had any fall off.
