I did a search and couldnt find any pictures of black painted 91 style stock rims.. I am trying to decide whether to polish mine up, or spray them black.. pics please!
yeah it is the site that you use to host the pictures haha.. tiny pic is blocked here.. are you always online or what haha? Was that your maro in the pic? I am thinking about painting the whole thing black, including the sides..
I am going to paint mine a medium grey or gun metal. Here is pictures of other members rides that i saved for reference. The first is a pic of one with black wheels, second one is with the grey, how i want them. The third one is a car thats my color green, with a crappy Windows Paint attempt at painting the wheels grey...lol...but hope it helps. I think it looks great.

Haha nah i'm not always online, but I was for a while last night!! Had to do some online christmas shopping among other things... Either way, i'm always down for helpin' out a fellow third gen owner no matter what time of night it is haha... Yes that is my car, just a really bad cell phone pic... When I painted my wheels I left the center caps off because I think it gives them a more aggressive look... Plus I didnt want to paint the center caps because perfect ones are becoming harder and harder to come by...

Man those are some good looking maros and thanks for the pics.. I do like the black a lot!
Did you paint them yourself? What did you use? I am thinking just cleaned them, and hit them with something to rough them up before painting right?

Yeah yours look really good... I will have to decide whether or not to paint the center caps and the outside of the rim too... hmmm I wonder why more guys dont run black wheels on here...

The second pic what color is that on the wheels i like that color more then black for my car since its silver
Thats a decent enough looking car... but I just dont see the appeal of those wheels. Black wheels can look okay, but only if they're VERY glossy. The 91-92 wheels always look terrible because they just turn out flat black because they're textured. No black aftermarket wheels are flat black. They're always gloss black. The lack of a shine to black wheels just makes them look like... well... wheels that someone rattlecanned black.
Im not a fan of chrome either, but polished aluminum looks a good bit better than chrome, IMO.
These are my polished 91-92's:
Im not a huge fan of the 91-92 wheels anyway though. I'm about to put these on mine, and they were rattle canned also, so I've got ntohing against rattle can, just do it right.

Yes I painted myself with duplicolor wheel paint and primer. I bought a metallic clear, but I like flat black better. I even painted the center "nut" that is chrome a dark graphite. The wheels on my GTA are also flat black. All of my cars have aggressive pads and larger brakes, My GTA is mainly a track car. The flat black does not show brake dust as bad. Not that I really care, I am not a "waxer". It is just how I like it. The reason I painted the '91 wheels is they came off of a parts car I bought that was wrecked. One of them has some damage on the outer lip and I thought the black might hide it some.
I did do it right, aircraft paint stripper and hot washer tank. Steel wool to rough them up, zinc rich primer and paint.
There are several aftermarket wheel companies that offer flat black wheels.
Hmm some of those do look good, but definitely it doesnt look right on the 91-92 wheels as far as Im concerned.
The texture of the 91-92 wheels plus the sheer size of the spokes makes it look weird. If you're gonna go gloss black, you need to sand then down until all the machining ridges are gone from the wheels. From there polishing is easy.
From what I can see I really like that. Do you have any better pics? Did it turn out glossy or more flat black? If it turned out glossy enough I may have to do this.
i had mine on the car for a while. i painted the rims black and red . i did get a litttle tired of the black on the white car after a while and love my new rims much better.
