Need to know what is the biggest Wheel/Tire combo I can run without having to use a hammer on inner wells, roll fenders, or remove bump stops. Was looking in 17 or 18" wheel.
Have a 84 TA with 3rd Gen drum rear end. Have converted to rear 1LE disk with Eb Miller's kit. Plan on upgrading front brakes to something larger as well.
Army is deploying me in next 4 months so I have to have car at least pushable but obviously don't have time to finish everything and check wheel/tire fitments. Plan on buying wheels and tires soon so that I can make car pushable since wife will probably be moving to our next duty station while I am deployed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you know of combos that fit without any mods, please provide all wheel specs (including back spacing and offset) and tire sizing. I am not apposed to running different sizes front to rear if it all fits without mods.
I would say a 9" wheel with a 275 tire. The right offset and backspacing will keep it under the fender liip but not require hammering.
Now i have a 19x10 wheel with a 295 tire that fits good and required 15 seconds per side of hammer work. Literally the easiest thing to do, kick in the lower front wheel well metal and it clears fine

Unfortunately I've never run anything but a stock wheel on my thirdgens, so I'm still fairly new to the whole aftermarket wheel thing. I'm gettin my next thirdgen shortly and I've been lookin at some new wheels. I'd like to have an 18x10 wheel out back. So are you sayin that I could do this w/o too much drama with the wheel wells?

I run a 17x9.5 ROH RT wheel with a 275/40/17 tire and its flush with the wheel lip. Been running that combo for 3 years now, never touched the fender liop.
All this talk of wheel & tire sized, but zero talk of backspacing.
I put a set of BFG295/50s on a stock 16 x 8 rear wheel, at the tire store. ZERO mods. They took the wheels off, swapped on new tires & they bolted them back up.
So all the talk above is useless without specifying the backspacing of said custom wheel.

This is why I'm asking about this stuff. As I stated before I don't know a whole lot about wheels/backspacing etc. The website says: (Rear) 18x10 +41mm offset and 7 1/8" backspacing (Front) 18x8.5 +35mm offset and 6 1/8 backspace. Also the bolt pattern is 4.75" What does this info tell you guys?

Double checking the site, for some reason it says 7 1/8" on the main caption. But when I click to get more details it says 6 1/8". Guess I'll have to call and see if it's a misprint or what...

I wasn't referring to YOU.
I was referring to others posts telling you their tire size...Their wheel size, etc. But they hadn't given you enough info on their complete setup, to be of any use.
With those bs you listed, you'd have to buy adapters to fit them on your car.
My specs are in my sig & the fronts are less than 1/4" from the tie rod ends. I'm not SURE, but I don't think the extra 1/2" of a 18" wheel would be enough to clear it & allow for even more bs.
I have 7"bs and had to cut out quite a bit more than I expected to. You could run adapters out back too (more money + extra weight) and make them fit.
