IROC wheels
I am about to finalize a deal on an 87 IROC ! It's only gonna cost me $2,100 so it does have some minor flaws ( to be expected for it's age and price, right ) The only thing I really dislike about it that it doesn't have the IROC wheels. I'm already looking to find some original or replica IROC wheels for it. But alot of the ads keep mentioning that they only have the fronts or the rears. Was there a difference in the offset between the front and rear wheels to where they won't interchange ? ?
Thanks in advance for any help !!

The front and rear wheels have different offsets, 16mm IIRC!!
Tire rotations were a hassle, as the tires had to be dismounted, and remounted on the wheels!!
Your going to find it hard to get 16 inch tires, at least I do, I would look into getting some chrome IROC replica wheels, in 17 x 8, or 17 x 9!!
Does the car have rear disk brakes, or drums?
The drum braked cars had wheel spacers on the back, with the IROC wheels, due to the difference in rear axle length between the drums, and the discs!!

Re: IROC wheels
My paps bought IROC rims from a local junkyard for $45 a rim.
Oh and I bought my IROC two years ago with a mint body but faded paint and to this day I think I got a hell of a deal spening $1,800 on it. (he threw in the 700R4 stage 3 shift kit and a B&M ratchet shifter)

Re: IROC wheels
I believe rear wheels can be mounted on the front, but fronts can't be mounted in the rear... or maybe the opposite of that. I don't know for sure, I've never used IROC wheels.

Re: IROC wheels
With IROC Wheels, the fronts pushed the wheel out a bit further of the wheelwell compared to the rears.
If you put fronts on the back it'll push the wheel out of the wheelwell about 16mm. Not a lot but noticible.
So if you can only find fronts then you can use them, Keep in mind front wheels are harder to find due to the fact they got damaged much more often in accidents, curb shots, potholes, and other damages.
Lastly, I do have a full set in my garage attic. I'd have to dig them out and get some pics taken but they are original from back in the day and in good shape. Would probably need 250 for the set minimum. PM me if interested. You would pay shipping as well unless you're close to NW Illinois.

Re: IROC wheels
Thanks so much for all the help and advice from all of you! The deal didn't materialize of the 87 but I've got an 85 Z with tuned port ! ! ! But I gotta get it hauled alittle over a hundred miles, but it is in better shape other than the fact that it don't run lol So the wheel issue won't affect me on that one. Thanks again, one and all !!
