If you have LIFT YOUR CAR TO PUT BIG WHEELS ON, its probably the wrong mod to do.

I cn respect what you saying because you came at me in the right way you kno. Okay so answer me this, I want to so a staggared rim size... Im think 18x10 in the bak and 17x8.5 in the front. I want a fast car so Im willing to change rim size for the better
I would stick to all 18's if your going to do that it's a much better look.
Max I would go on a thirdgen is 19" wheels anything more then that looks little to big.
The facts are this, not every person who owns an f-body or mustang or any "performance based car" gives a **** about performance. Most people just like the way they look.
I bet thats why GM offered the cars with the V6 and 305s...

Biggest I'd ever go on any car is 17 inch wheels. I like smaller wheels with more tire, I hate a lot of wheel with low profile tires. Which is why 15" cragers on a chevelle SS will always be my favorite.

At least the OP is using a thirdgen instead of a Prius and for that i give respect, id rather see a third gen firebird on the road in mint condition with 22 inch rims on it then in a crusher at a junk yard.

Our cars come with enough stereotypes; I honestly don't think we need ANY MORE! - I would prefer those types of wheels on anything else over a thirdgen.

when putting on a rim and tire that big there are other things to think about. thinking that you want a 22 or bigger rim tells me your more into looks then performance. if so im sure you will be able to easily fit a 22 for bigger on all around but the tire wont be that wide. also like people have already said braking, steering, acceleration will all be negatively effected in doing so
you might need to buy spacers for your car and roll the fender wells for clearance. other then that make sure your rim shop gets the back spacing right and your good.
personally i look the look of 18 inch torque thrust 2s on our cars
20 in irocs dont look half bad. Even though im probably gonna be selling mine soon to buy a different style and a tad bit smaller size. Around 17 in. But i still think the looks of the 20 are pretty sharp. And these are 20 in on the front and back.

I think your car looks great with the exception of the wheel size. If they were 16s or 17s it'd be perfect to me. It looks too much like those "muscle machines" toy cars that are out now.
i have 20's and i think they look nice but its the biggest i would go. your examples are just idiotic to be honest no one should ever do this to a camaro! mess up a mustang lol
I thought Skult didn't wheel adaptors anymore? WB I wouldn't rec. you putting 22s on that Camaro. I am not a big fan of 20s on these either for the fact they are heavy chrome turds. You can find some pretty good 4th gen rims and add spacers on the front and run a 4th gen rear end to keep your wheels intact with the axle and run a nice wide rear tire. Just some extra thoughts.
To answer your question...yes you can fit 22's....yes you have to lift it....the reason why everyone is suggesting 20's is because the amount of work involved plus the driving sacrifices you have to accept are....not....worth 2 inches

I know Shane runs a 20/19 IROC combo on his 91. Not a bad look but personally I would not go greater than 18". For me the proportion of the car would be off with anything greater than 18"..
It's about personal choice plain and simple.....and maybe other 3rd gen owners laughing.
I'm not gonna bash the person for wanting big wheels... however... I do not understand that culture or desire to poke around in a car that doesn't handle, rides like crap and looks rediculous... Of course I never have understood the Honda owners who lower their cars so low the tires are on the sidewall, you know, sideways as if there isn't a spring left. Install some 18's, if you want a big rim setup, it will still be respectable as a sports car, handle well and look good. Save the big wheels for trucks... it will save the rest of us our sanity and eye sight.
You do not need to "lift" your car to run 20" wheels. In fact, you should lower it.
Here is my car with 20" TSW Wheels.
Front are 20x9 with a 245/35/20
Rears are 20x10.5 with a 275/35/20
No rubbing or anything. Picture is before new springs and struts, now my car is lowered roughly 1.75-2"
For the guys that say only run 17's, Ok fine, if you prefer the look, but you are absolutely wrong if your reasoning is due to performance. (Drag racing being an exception)
Have you seen any of today's sports cars? Especially some higher end cars such as Porsche's, Nissan GTR's, etc? They all run at least a 19" wheel and some even a 20" rear wheel. This is because lower profile tires (to a certain point) have much less tire deformation, allowing you to corner harder. Acceleration and braking are also improved. And if you run the car on the track your tires get up to temperature much faster, since there is less rubber.
Lower profile tires do have a negative effect in driving comfort, but so do lowering springs, sub frame connectors, wider tires, aftermarket cams, shift kits, performance clutches, and pretty much any other performance part you can possibly put on a car. They do put more wear and tear on the car, so "supporting mods" should be used if the car is going to be ran hard. (Wonder Bar, Strut Brace, bigger brakes if you run heavier wheels) And for the record, I'm not a fan of huge wheels at all. And I think 20" is the biggest one should go. All the information I posted above is regarding 18-20" wheels. In no way will a 22" wheel increase performance in any aspect.
My road course wheels are 18's, and the side wall is barely larger than the side wall on my 20" tire
I love the ignorance, hypocrisy, and racism in these types of threads. It amuses me that whenever a 20" or 22" wheel is brought up, we always have some guys chime in, and state that you have to be black and listen to rap. Lol, do you guys even hear yourselves?

Anyone know if I can put 255/50R16 tires on my 87 Lt camaro? I put one back tire on and it hits the frame... If I get spacers will they fit... Or will the fronts rub when turning?
