Your opinion needed! Best bang for the buck CAM for my ride!
What would be a good cam for my car? Here is what I am working with!
1988 Trans Am GTA
350 TPI, AUTO TRANS, 3.23 rear
Mods : Edelcrock Headers (suck), ported plenum, SLP Air Foil, AFPR, Jet Stage 2 chip, Accel Coil, cap, wires, plugs, no cat, 3" Flowmaster, thats about the extent of the mods. I still may put a stall converter in the car as well.
What cam would you guys recommend? and why? Thanks, your opinions are appreciated!

I'd go with CompCams Extreme Energy XR264.
It has......
Duration @ .050"----212--218
Lift---------------.487--.495
Call Comp and get a grind number for this cam with a 112 LSA.This wont require much more stall speed and your mass air car wont gag on it.It doesnt cost any more money for a custom grind.I would NOT use the ZZ9 with the stock springs. That is asking for trouble. It is however a GREAT grind if you can swallow the price.

I'm happy with the ZZ9 cam I have but you DO need new springs for it that have a seat pressure of 120lbs! If you have the 6085 heads then your ok with those springs.
The other thing is no matter what cam you get you should get/have a aftermarket intake manifold. Else you'll be air limited like me but it does pull real good from 2800rpms to 5000rpms.
Good Luck!

The best bang for the buck is not a cam swap.
You have to pull off the intake to pull the cam, so you might as well get a better intake, or get your stock intake fully ported. Get some aftermarket runners and a good convertor. The cam will only flow as good as the other intake components.
Just ran your combo thru the program, and the ZZ9 made the most power, with the ZZ4 10 horse less than the ZZ9, and the Super Profile L98 cam at 6 horse less than the ZZ4.
ZZ9 made 50 horse more than the stock cam.

Well im no genius when it comes to motor like u guys, but i like the accel/lingenfelter cam part #74211 which is made for TPI's with improved intakes and exhausts,u will need their springs, retainers and valve keepers, my opinion well worth it.
