I personally have liked the bfg's - specifically the kdw g force tires...

good tread life, and grip, absolutely great in the rain.

I've had several sets of tires on my Formula over the years. Right now I have BFG G Force kdws tires and they are awesome all around - I'd definitely buy 'em again.

I'll jump on the BFG G force wagon ...

Replaced the rear tires on my IROC with a set of 275/40/17 BFG KDWS... they rock!!! Before, even with good tread on the rear tires, it was not fun to drive in the rain. Now I find myself having to make myself slow down, as it's so much better, ESPECIALLY in the wet stuff.

JUST the tires also got rid of a nasty speed-related vibration I had.

In a month or two I'll be replacing the fronts with the same. I have some used Eagle GSC's on the front now, and while they seem okay...they are WAY LOUD at speed.

Im the Goodyear type here. If you have the money, the Eagle F1s are one of the best sport tires on the market, but will run you around $400 a tire. For best results on a budget, look at the Dunlop Sp 5000 or 9000 series, or for directional performance, Eagle HP. Both of these will run you around $150 a tire installed. The Dunlops are AA traction rated and Z rated (Traction and speed ratings), one of the best values around. They also have a wide veriety of tire sizes.

here is what they say about them: The Cobra ZHP 01 is a low-profile, ZR speed rated ultra high performance tire that delivers the utmost in wet and dry handling. The ZHP 01’s directional tread design features a bold center rib and sweeping lateral grooves for rapid steering response and hydroplaning resistance. Its tread compound has been optimized for excellent grip on wet and dry surfaces. Unique to this tire is its advanced casing construction which gives the tire its uniformity and high speed stability. The ZHP 01’s unique sidewall features recessed serrated lettering for a great appearance and a flange protector to protect those expensive alloy wheels. The ZHP 01 is indoor wheel tested for speeds up to 168 mph (270 km/h). This equates to a “W” speed symbol as indicated in the service description.

the nice thing about the gforce series tires is they have a SUPER stiff sidewall... i would recommend them to anyone, and keep in mind they put these tires on the SVT cobras for a while too.

*sigh* I just spent a month trying to decide on a type of tire. Remind me next time I get rims, not to get 15's. BFE's don't have alot of 15's. 235 60/15 is what I have now. *sigh*

I like riding around on the Nitto NT555-R. They hook better than any street tire and isn't that bad in the rain as some people claim them to be. I had the Bridgestone RE730s before the NT555-R's and they are also great and long lasting while providing very good grip and great in the rain. Only negative about them is the rim guard that makes it a little harder to put weights on the wheel. If you use stick on weights, than it isn't a problem.

Oh there's more sizes out there, but they have to be special ordered. I did , but didn't get much use out of them before I went with 16" rims. Anyways the size I ordered was 245/50ZR/15 (not 205/15 or 225/15). These tire post are always a reminder to me that I need to put them up for sale . Like I said ,there are several 15" sizes ,but they get very costly. I paid over $200 a tire for those Dunlop sport D40 m2's. But they are a badass tire for a 15" rim. Anyone out there looking for some fat ,low profile meats?

I have Falken 502 Ziex on the from of my Trans Am. I would go with them again in a heart beat.

I have Dunlop 5000 on the Camaro. I like them also but they are little more expensive than the Falkens.

i have 15" iroc rims on my 89 iroc and considering i don't have alot of cah plus there no really good tires in 235/60r15.

i put on 235/60r15
bf t/a radials(white wall lettering in)
they were only 65 a tire

and i'm havin no problems, good in the rain, not to bad in the snow.
i'm runnin 2.01 in the 60' and
14.54@94.1 in the 1/4
so traction isn't my problem..

but if u have the cash and if they make it in ur size get the KDW's
they are really good

I drive on Nitto Drags daily with my 4th gen. Lots of power, manual trans, and no problem whatsoever in rain. They suck when they're cold, though. I have to take it easy for the first couple of miles.

At about $315, a set for 245/50/zr16's! So rip them all day long, in a year or so,if for some reason they don't last longer, you can afford new ones!!! Later!!

I'm with you on this for a daily driver. At the track these tires suck. They don't grip as well dry as the 711 or the dunlop sp8000's I know that for a fact. Everything else about them is great though. Good tread life (longer than my dunlops), low noise, great rain, but crappy snow. Infact in the snow I'd rather be on slicks, that way I CAN'T move (which would be a good thing, let other people drive).
I'm looking into their new 711 series tires. They're even cheaper and at $250 a set they look just like the dunlop sp8000's. If they're anywhere near the same I'd be happy.

man its like a hung jury...no general consensus - not one tire brand REALLY sticks out
although I'll have to say that the BFG G-Forces got a good response....

you can get top of the line z rated tirs or you cn go get the pepboys special, how much do u wanna spend and what do u plan on using them for, do ur car get stored for the winter and never driven in the rain, or is something that is your daily diver and has to get you back and forth from work and home in evrything.

they should.....is it a good idea? i say no, others will probably say yes.

the sidewall will bulge to much and you won't have nearly the control as a 255.

for a 16" rim i really like the michelin pilot 245/50 h's. they are a decent price and work really great!!

i know alot of people like bfg's, i don't care for them myself. but, it's just my opinon.

either way you'll be fine, just go with the right size for your rim; anything larger than a 255 and your asking for problems.

just buy nitto 555 R. this is a performance web site. there fine in the rain, just like any tire when there balled they spin when its wet. learn to drive.

if I had to pick a street tire to race on a wet track it would be a new nitto 555R

Dunlop sport sp d40 m2 235/60r/15

Like I said ,there are several 15" sizes ,but they get very costly. I paid over $200 a tire for those Dunlop sport D40 m2's. But they are a badass tire for a 15" rim. Anyone out there looking for some fat ,low profile meats?
