I'll second the walbro recommendation :-) ITs what i have in the GTA and TTA and most of the turbo buick community runs them as well

The reason why I'm not looking for an in-tank pump is because my tank isn't setup for one. I'm converting from a carb to TPI and I'm using the sending unit out of an '86 so there are no provisions for the fuel pump in the tank.

You don't need a tank setup for one. Well sort of. All you need is the sending unit assembly (any TPI car) which you won't get with a replacement tank anyway.
I got my sending unit assembly for this boards for sale section. There is always someone parting out a 3rd gen somewhere.

so what's wrong with in-line fuel pumps anyway? I'm sorry I can't accept just the fact that there are no good ones without a reason.

Car: 87 IROC - 67 Camaro

Transmission: 700R4 in both cars
Axle/Gears: 3.27 - 3.36 posi in both cars
I have had very good luck with a Bosch in-line fuel pump. I got it from TPIS. The only negative is the noise. I would rather have used an in-tank pump, but my fuel tank in my 67' Camaro would not handle it. I took out my stock sending unit and soldered a 3/8" nipple for the out and put a 5/16" for the return. I then installed 3/8" steel tubing to the engine and used the old 5/16" for the return. Been working fine now for three years and 30,000 miles.

In-tank pumps are protected and stay cool because they are surrounded by cool gas.
