Anyone use Spartan engines????
Hey have any of you ever used a Spartan long block??? Advanced auto sells a 5.7 w/roller cam to stock specs for 1050.00 . Thats a great base and it will cost be alot more than that to clean and check the block, redo the heads and crank. I would more than likly change the cam before installing it in the car. Whats up with this company???/

WOW! Are you serious? I think that would be the LO5 block, the same one used in the pickups. I have seen spartan brochures, so I would just have to say that they are more reputable then some guy in the back of a gas station doing a rebuild. My advice is to find out what kind of warrenty they have- if it's the same as most companies- 36 month, then you should take it and run! I'm going to make a trip to my Advance Auto and check this out just because you said so. If it's not too good to be true, then there's a spartan motor on my x-mas list. -Randy

There not bad for stock. I picked up a Spartan long block (pre. 80's) from Checker Auto. I think I dished out 800 something bucks.
The best part is I gave Checker Auto a 305 core without telling them
