Champion Fiberglass hood - fitment issues, body work issues?
Ok, I was thinking of getting a Cervini hood until I saw the price. I noticed some of you are running Champion hoods that look identical to the Cervini hood (I'm looking at the cowl hood). Anyway, the Champion hood is about $320 and the Cervini is $525. Big price difference, but sometimes you get what you pay for. That being said, any input for any issues for the Champion hood? Fitment issues? Major Prepwork for paint?
How about the Cervini? Any issues? Fitment seems to be dead on but how about prepping for paint?
I just don't want to dish out $320 + shipping for a hood and be disappointed. Any input would be great.

I was going to get a Cervini hood but this does look like the same. I would love to hear from someone who has one too.

I have seen both hoods side by side and they are the same style. Champion hoods are not quite as nice as a Cervinis. but not that far off. If you have a show car I would go with Cervinis. If you have a drag car or a car you drive every day Champion hoods should work fine.

IMHO there's no comparison to a cervini. Those things just look awesome.

Re: Champion Fiberglass hood - fitment issues, body work issues?
Had one on my car for a year. It had a hard life before it got to me, and was in several hands before the previous owner.
I loved the way it looked... for a cowl hood. But the repairs I made to it didnt hold up over the long haul so I traded it to someone who didnt care. It was originally a bolt-on hood.
Originally on mw66nova's car back when he had the bad bad 305:
And then I got it and it went on my car:
It fit fine on mine. Looked great. A few years later after I bought this one from him, he decided he liked the way these Champion hoods looked more than the other cowl hoods he had, so he decided to get another, and for less weight he got a lift-off version of it and he said it left him terribly unimpressed. He didnt keep it very long. So I dont know if the molds are just old/warped/not maintained these days, or if the QC just is hit or miss, or if it's the bolt-on ones that are okay or what, but mine was great. Its issues were due to mishaps, not anything on Champions part. The new lift-off one he had disappointed him. But it did look really nice on the car, but I never got to see it up close.
I'd probably get another one if I needed the hood clearance for one. I dont like the look of cowls, but the Cervinis and these are the ones I can tolerate.
