I ordered a fiberglass spoiler from Hawks and was wondering if anyone else has used one.

I am questioning because I am wondering about fitment. I am putting it on a 86 T/A and it does not fit well at all. The bolt holes on the spoiler lined right up and the wrap around part on the right side line up very good, but the left side wing sits high by about 1 inch or so. I have to pull really hard to get that wing to line up to the mounts.

Anyone else have this problem or did it line up better than that?

Im going to use screws in the spolier to mount it to the stock clips on the window and I dont think the screws are going to hold with all the force of having to pull it down and I think the screws will pull out and damage the spoiler.

Myself and another friend of mine had exactly the same problem, the spoiler legs were about an half an inch too short to reach the bootdeck on each spoiler. Had to build up the base with a lot of filler in order to get it to fit

you can probably use fiberglass if it's fiberglass spoiler to build up the difference

Ok, mine it the wrap around part on the drivers side. The legs are fine, the height is fine and the passenger side wrap around is fine, just the drivers side. If I build it up like you did, that would bring my passenger side too low.

I talked to tech support at Hawks and he is being very helpful on fixing it. He was very nice and polite and hopefully we can get this fixed. I sent him some pictures to look at and see what it is doing.

Well, if you have a heatgun, you may be able to get the wing to bend down some starting at the corner to get it to fit. Heat should make the composite material maleable and you can put some weight on it while you heat the corner and work your way toward the front and it should pull down. Let it cool and remove the weight or whatever you use to hold it in shape...if that doesn't work I would then go ahead with all the fill and fiberglass work...hopefully you can get it to bend down some and get it mounted so you dont have to mess with a new peice.

heat gun should work, from experience with fiberglass it could lose shape from temperature changes being in the box...2nd the heat gun idea

How did you make out with the spoiler? I am looking to purchase one and would like to know your experience with the Hawks spoiler.

Temp changes do effect fiberglass parts. I had the 91 Z28 spoiler from hawks,
and when it arrived it was pretty much ready for paint.So i put it back into the box,and stored it on a rack up on my garage ceiling.When i went to install it I found a crack on the front edge,which was'nt there before.Contraction and expansion I guess.
