Electric fuel pumps....

I'm thinking about switching from a mechanical fuel pump to a electric fuel pump,Like holly's blue pump. Somebody at work told me that a electric fuel pump would help in acceleration. Is that true?

Only if your current pump is starving your motor out. You have a 305 so I doubt it. Good way to check is to tape a fuel pressure guage to the windshield and make a couple of full throttle runs. If it drops down too much you need a bigger pump. If you really want to lose the stock pump, get an aftermarket mechanical. It will more than handle what you've got right now.
