Anyone know of the quality of Detroit Speeds Steering boxes? I am doing a complete suspension rebuild will all new spohn/umi parts and I figure I might as well replace the gear box now while everything is stripped. Mine probably has 170k miles right now so would you agree it would be a good idea to do it?

Are there other quick ratio boxes that anyone can suggest? This one is pretty damn expensive and also recommends purchasing two other parts (you will see on the link above) which makes this turn into a $800 swap

I just rebuilt mine. It's not that hard and it cost $40. do a search for steering box rebuild/rag joint and pitman arm.

I put a billet AGR box in my car and I love the thing. No more on center play. Steering is very quick and tight

Not clear what quality/cost you're constrained to,
but here's my experience.

As part of restoring the Formula's front suspension,
steering box was going to be included, and I wanted
to up-grade to quick ratio. Well it turns out that the
(originally equipped)WS6 suspension package included
q-r box, so I was able to get a re-built unit from the
local Car Quest. I can't remember how many turns
lock-to-lock , but I was very clear w/ the parts counterman,
that the delivered unit had better be the same as my old one.
And so it was... I don't have the receipt immediately at hand,
but either $120 or $180 comes to mind.
(Biggest problem was the huge nut to remove the steering arm.)
