Amazing car by the way, one of my favorites on this board...
Like every aftermarket hood I've seen it has some fatal flaws. Even my own cowl is a love/hate thing for me.

But that hood, the cowl uses the factory accents on the hood as a basis for its outline which is great, but for some reason on a car with a lot of sweeping angles and sharp curves, they make the top of the cowl a big shapeless bulbous mass. Why? If You could join that sunoco hood with the SS hood's sharper transition to the "roof" of the cowl, it'd look a lot better.

Re: Which Hood should I go with?

Does anyone know if the SS hood provides additional clearance? Or is the whole scoop purely cosmetic? I know it doesn't function for air intake purposes

Re: Which Hood should I go with?

To me the best looking hood is the stock IROC hood. Obviously, there are times when extra clearance are needed but I don't really like the look of any of them. The cowl induction hood on the blue/silver stripe car is about the best I have seen. The issue for me is when an aftermarket hood is on an otherwise stock bodied car just looks out of place. I am not bashing anyone's look because that's kinda the purpose of hot rodding, make it your own and if you like it that is all that really matters.
If I needed extra clearance I would try to take a stock IROC hood and modify it to give the added clearance but still look stock-ish. From an air induction standpoint I would like to have a front opening scoop like the fourth gen SS's or TA's. I have seen some like this on Firebirds that looked good but I don't know if the Camaro could pull it off. Just my opinions.

Re: Which Hood should I go with?

Old thread but I have questions... So I like the 2 inch cowl and the SS hood BUT I'm not finding a Steel SS hood which is prolly what I would like and I had gotten a Duraflex hood for my Built Grand Cherokee and it was junk plane and simple and all that pop up are the Duraflex. What have you folks found? Thanks

There is no steel ss hood for these cars. You're options are the hawks one, the duraflex, or the ascd hood. Hawks and ascd will both cost you close to $800 with shipping
