anyone got a 10 or low 11 second carbed SBC
on motor?
if so interested in your set up. I have ideas, but always have an open ear. Heads, intake, etc. Chassis, trans and stuff is not a problem
thanks
Matt

Car: 1984 LG4 Camaro
Engine: 350 Roller Motor
Transmission: Level 10 700R4
Axle/Gears: Strange 12 bolt 3.42
While my car isn't that fast yet-next year possibly, I have done a lot of thought about the same exact goal.
If you want to use nitrous on a decent built motor, not even a problem with a 350 or bigger engine.
If you want to do it on the motor and be streetable, you will need to go 383, 396, 406 or 420. The larger the engine, the lower the power peak needed to make the same power. You don't want a 7500rpm 305, but a 6500rpm 426 is easy.
Except for the engine and strong driveline parts, you will need a good exhaust. I love the idiots in 4th gens with mucho engine work and a 3" exhaust. They would not believe that on a 500hp motor, the 3" exhaust chokes at least 50hp out of it. Go for a 4" exhaust and flow free.

Matt, I have a friend that runs low 10's in a 2nd gen and his brother runs high 9s in an early Nova both are using SBC motors. This is using nitrous not on the motor alone. If you really want to know I can ask what he is using.

Put the snotted-out GM crate 502 in your car. Won't need nitrous but will need new trans, rear-end and driveshaft to handle the torque. Building a GOOD small block will cost about the same, maybe a couple grand less, but ever driven a maxed-out 502?

10.8 @ 124 MPH (all motor)
396 SBC
3530 pounds with driver
Haven't gotten a full pass on NOS, TH400 didn't hold up. We'll find out in the Spring.

Matt,
I have the 100% CNC ported AFR 220's. At .700 lift they flow 303 cfm intake, and 230 cfm exhaust. And yes, I do have that much lift
I shift at 7800.
Converter has 5500 stall. I've made alot of changes to the car since the last time I ran it, I expect much better times the next time I get to the track. I was running a spragless converter, but I changed over to a mechanical diode converter now. Also got a new TH400 built and put a brake in it.
I've done a ton of other stuff as well, and am still making upgrades and will be all winter. I'd like to get the thing down to 3400 with me in it, and with all the changes I'm making I should be able to pull a 10.5 on motor only, and right around a 9 flat on the juice.
