Lucas "Safeguard" Ethanol Fuel Conditioner

Tried a bottle of this new product last time I filled up the gas tank in my '83 Z28. Noticed a little difference after a few miles, but I could really tell it was working after about 100 miles or so. I put half a bottle in my '96 Tahoe that has almost 200,000 miles and same thing, after about 100 miles, I noticed it idled and ran better. Not sure of any MPG gains, but the butt dyno noticed an increase in power in both vehicles.

What engine are you running with ethanol in your 83?
305? What else did you modify to ethanol prevent problems?
ethanol or E85 or other?

Stock LG4. Most of the gas stations around here are a 10% blend. I had noticed the car just seemed sluggish, so I tried a bottle. This Lucas stuff is supposed to work with E-10, E-15 or E85.

Re: Lucas "Safeguard" Ethanol Fuel Conditioner

When I first bought the car back in '05 it got around 16-17mpg. I checked it last night when I filled up after running the first bottle through the fuel system and I got 15mpg. That was mostly highway miles with a couple short trips in between. I'll check it again and report back.

Re: Lucas "Safeguard" Ethanol Fuel Conditioner

Second tank on the Lucas stuff and I got 14mpg. I don't think it's the product that caused the loss of 1 mpg. I didn't drive the car much and it was cold so it spent some time idling /warming up. I had one 60 mile trip on the highway and the rest was local roads/city driving.

No gain or loss of mileage with this product, but I still give it a thumbs up. I'd recommend this to anyone with ethanol fuel issues.
