BFG Sport Comp-2's. 275/40/17's

Absolutely and totally worth the money! I put these on my car with the help of CTW Motorsports wheels. All I can say is wow. The grip is incredible. My nemesis and friend, in a Mustang, upgraded his tires and wheels and absolutely kicked my butt on the Autocross track. Really, he picked up almost 4 seconds just with modern rubber. We were competitive last year, this year he bought new rubber and whacked me with it. 4 seconds, I could stop for lunch on track! I put BFG's on the car, 275/40/17's and I expect to catch him next time! BFG Rocks! And Made in the USA! American boys need jobs too ya know! Buying these tires will be a treat to yourself and your car.

Re: BFG Sport Comp-2's. 275/40/17's

Couldn't agree more. I have had a set of these on my iroc since the end of last season and they are phenomenal tires for the money. I dont have them in that size however. Just the stock iroc 16 inch tire size. Its getting harder and harder to find a good performance tire in 16" and these fit the bill perfectly for me.

Re: BFG Sport Comp-2's. 275/40/17's

Glad to hear about the comp 2's... I am looking for new set of 245 50 16's for the IROC and I couldnt decide between those and the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S's. The only other tire that was in that size I liked was the Goodyear F1's and they were WAAAAY to expensive. Looks like this thread made up my mind...

To the OP - Kick his MUSTANG @SS!

I agree entirely! I just put a set of 275/40R17's on my 1990 RS 5.0L T-5 and I LOVE THEM. I don't autocross; just "spirited street driving", but WOW, what a difference!

I had that same size on my car for over eight years. Last year when I needed new rubber I changed the rears to 255/50/R16 for almost the same price. Now I got a smidge more rubber on the rears and its not noticeable.

Great rubber. I put a complete set of 255/50/16s (a c4 Vette tire, basically) on my factory 92 Z28 wheels. They fit the wheels and fenders perfectly. Handling and braking are top notch, too.

Re: BFG Sport Comp-2's. 275/40/17's

Well, I dropped about 3 seconds around the course. I used my buddies Cobalt SS as a unit to measure it by. The Mustang owner went and got into Harley's and blew off the rest of the season. I will try to get him back out there for a spanking this season. I love the tires, I took them off and brought them into the house for the winter. I'm thinking of lowering springs and a new alignment for this season.

Re: BFG Sport Comp-2's. 275/40/17's

I've had a set of these on my car since 2007 and I'm still running the same set! They are the first generation though. Before they renamed them Comp 2's they were just G Force Sport. I'm running 245-45-17's in front and 275-40-17's in back. The rears are finally down to the wear bars which I can't believe has taken so long. I have run these things hard and the last two seasons I've been putting around 400whp through them including probably 40 laps on a race track, two autocross events, one drifting event, and a few dozen runs down the 1/4 mile. They still hook good for being a street tire. At least over 40 mph or so. They also have great sidewall support. And for some reason they aren't as harsh on sharp bumps in the road as my cheap Kumho's were back on my stock 16" wheels even though the BFG's have less sidewall. My fronts aren't even down to half tread yet. I have about 15-20k on them too. I already have a new rear pair just waiting to swap, when they finally wear out!
