Intellitronix DP4005 from summit?

Has anyone purchased and installed intellitronix DP4005 digital gauges? I was looking into them a few years ago but intellitronix had stopped producing them. Recently, Summit has picked up the line and is selling them again and I want to know if it's worth the hastle, although their gauge kit is much cheaper than conventional gauges.

i got the 4003 set and the only issue i have had is the speedometer will change pulse rates almost every time i start it. so my speedometer is off and i have to reset the pulses on the fly.

Re: Intellitronix DP4005 from summit?

i ordered mine straight from the company last year. biggest issue i had was they sent me the 4003 instead of the 4005 i ordered originally so i had to wait for them to make it again. my speedometer stays the same. i did have to get the signal off of my sgi5 box due to the signal from the ecm wasn't strong enough to run it.

as a side note, intellitronix still has these listed on their website. apparently summit is now a vendor for them.

What did you do to hook up your speedo? I have everything working except for this gauge and I cant figure out why.

i contacted the manufacturer about this because i had the same issue. apparently the factory ecm doesn't put out a strong enough signal to operate the gauge. i had a sgi5 box already installed due to my gears so i hooked it up to that. it worked perfectly.

Re: Intellitronix DP4005 from summit?

That would've been nice to know when I ordered the kit. Just ordered one, hopefully the installation isn't too bad. Any advice for installing the sgi5?

I didn't have the speedo signal strength issue with the dash in our GTA. BUT, I'm also running a standalone transmission controller for the 4L60E we put in it after it ate the second 700R4. This will get checked again for signal strength when the LS swap gets completed and the signal starts coming from a factory ECM again.

Re: Intellitronix DP4005 from summit?

I just put in a sgi5 box. It was really easy to setup and my speedo works great. Tested it with a gps app on my iphone and it matches up perfectly. Thanks for the suggestion

Re: Intellitronix DP4005 from summit?

So my speedometer keeps failing on me and just stops displaying anything. Has anyone else had issues with theirs working continuously? I have already had it sent back to be fixed once. One thing I do want to verify is what type of signal do the gauges want to see (AC or OC?)

Re: Intellitronix DP4005 from summit?

i was going to try and use the Dakota digital GPS-50. i called and asked if it will put out both square wave and sign wave simultaneously was was told it will. The intellitronics gauge cluster takes a sign wave and the vehicle needs a square wave since i now keep getting a code 24 after a short distance of driving. and hopefully it will take care of the code 24 and maybe take care of the guage speedo always needs to be reset after a new drive cycle the calibration will be different barely reading speed 20mph highway to over shooting speed 80+mph in the neighborhood street while actually driving no more then 25mph.

Re: Intellitronix DP4005 from summit?

I wish I could provide a solution for the cluster resetting itself but I have not had this problem. I have heard other people say theirs does that too though. Not a high quality piece if equipment I must say. Mine is on it's way back to be fixed for a second time. Not sure what I'm going to do if it breaks again I'm pretty annoyed and I've only had it for about a year and a half, less than 2000 miles on it
