Widest tires possible on Formula wheels...
What is the widest tire I can put on my stock Formula wheels. I am currently using 245s but would like better traction and handling. Anyone have ideas? Thanks.

You could put as big as a 265 on, but like Tom said I wouldn't go past a 255. You wouldn't be getting the most out of your tire with anything bigger than a 255 unless you got an aftermarket wheel.

There really isn't too much choice for 16" wheels anyways that are wider than 255s. BF Goodrich makes a 295 TA radial, but its a 50 series and too tall (and won't fit without backspacing ... endup sticking out ... and the rims are too narrow for 295s).
T/A Radials are an okay tire, but it isn't the best IMO, even within the BFGoodrich line. There are other 255s (BFGoodrich and other tire manufacturers) that give much better grip than a T/A Radial.

I'm using Mickey Thompson Competitor tires
305/40x16 with no problems. Another good tire out for your car is the
Khumho Victoracer. It's available in a 265/45x16. With the shorter sidewall it will not affect your speedo calibration.
