Hawks Third Generation will be releasing this new 17x9 GTA Mesh wheel in Winter 2015. We will be taking pre-orders, set of 4 Black or Gold will be available and the price will be $1199.00 set. They are a cast aluminum one piece design, 5 x 4-3/4”, with all the same offset and backspacing. We only have pics of the black ones item #HT179GTAB, gold part # will be item #HT179GTAG, I hope to have pics of the gold ones soon.

These were not a factory option, the originals were 16x8 but these have been a long awaited for design & size.

I've been wanting these for 15 years! I was about to finally pull the trigger on a set of the R15 after giving up hope!

Why are they not 17x9.5? That would have given them a more common tire size I would think.

A year is a crazy long wait :/ Do you know exactly what they will weigh? That would be my deciding factor between these and the R15 wheels now. I know the R15 weighs more but I'm wondering how much more...

Awesome. I wish that I had the money for these wheels when they come out. These are the only rims that I would consider replacing my stock crosslaces with. Hopefully they will still be available someday when I have the funds.

17x9 is the measurement where the tire goes, I'd bet these will be 17x9.5 total width like the gm factory wheels.

Sweet! These will look GREAT on our 92 B4C!! Can't grab a set right out of the blocks (We have to get a new set of slicks for the Firebird for next season), but they are definitely at the top of the list.

I saw this on GM-EFI.com a day or so ago. Great news. I always thought when my current set of Michelin Pilot Sports were worn out that I'd have to upgrade to 17s to get a good performance tire. Put I hated the idea of giving up on my PW7s. Now I won't have to lose the look to get 17s.

Been wanting to go back to a nice gold wheel for a while, all though the size is not bad the price is up there. That's like $300 for a 17" cast wheel, might have to wait for a sale or something.

I want a staggered look. 16" up front 17" in back. I Dunno if this would look good, but people usually do it with other sizes...

This wheel looks amazing, but I feel it's a missed opportunity. Not a single tire company makes a good tire in a 17" over 255. I feel that if you offer this wheel in a 18x9.5, you wouldn't be able to keep them in stock.

I have two questions about these new wheels.

1) What is the weight of them?

2) Will they be available in the wide lip front/narrow lip rear like the stock GTA wheels? Or will they be wide on both front/rear?

All of which are not available in a 17". The only "okay" tire available for the 17" size now is the Falken rt615k which is a rather old design and compound, and not as fast as the current offerings. I'm actually working with a startup wheel company to create a mesh wheel like this, but in a 18x10 that is the correct offset for our cars.

The R1R is a great tire if you drive a Miata or a Civic, but in a 3300 lb car like ours they get absolutely punished. I'd have to find a way to water them DURING runs!! lol

I don't want to be overly critical and nit pick about sizes at this point because it's a business and I'm sure if these wheels do well I'd hope they would expand the line to include 18x10 & 18x9

Does anyone remember when the snowflakes were first released from year one? I couldn't remember what sizes were offered but now you can buy almost any size! The iroc replica on the other hand never got wider than 8" if I remember correct?

These wheels will do very well! It's just taken way too long! Lol

I dont really get the impression that the target market for this is hardcore autocrossers...

I autocross and Im happy with 17x9.5's... Unless you're competing to win at a very high level, I dont think the "limited" tire selection is that much of a concern.

I do wish there were more better 275/40/17 options, but what's available is still good enough for most people, and it's MUCH better than what is available in 16x8.

I think that nails it. B4CHawk has a good point for pure, hardcore autox. But for 99% of the buyers of these rims, the available 17" tire choices are far better than with the 16" wheels.

I have the NT05's on my GTA, never had a problem in rain and I was in some pretty bad storms. Sure, there are other tires with less focus on Dry performance that will be better in the wet, but they aren't un-drivable.

If you are so stupid as to not be able control yourself, then you are probably going to die or write the car off through some act of stupidity. No tire can save you from stupidity.

Problem is only 1 of those tires qualifies in any national competition, and it's sorely outdated and slow compared to the other offerings out there. 17" over a 255 are going to be going the way of the 16" soon enough.

For the money they isn't anything better than a NT05. It's only 168 a tire. So it's very affordable.
