Review Hawk's Motorsports: Door Weather Stripping & Window Felt

This is my review of Hawk's Motorsports Weather Stripping kit & Window Felt. Both of my 91 Camaro's have this product. One is a Ttop & the other a convertible.

Re: Review Hawk's Motorsports: Door Weather Stripping & Window Felt

The Hawks weatherstripping kit was installed on my convertible Camaro one year ago when the car was being repainted and receiving several updates at a local body shop. The shop owner insisted SoffSeal would be the better weather stripping kit however it was far more expensive. I decided to go with the Hawks kit. The technician that installed the weather stripping kit said it was on par with the SoffSeal kit.

The shop owner said it would take about 4 months for it to fully set to the doors for easy opening and closing. He said the SoffSeal would have set in four weeks. In either case that the doors will open and close like the car was new. The road noise was much reduced after the weatherstripping kit was installed and I am very happy with the results. The tech said the window felt fit way better than other after market kits. He said he was able to correct one minor misalignment. Both owner & tech agreed the kits were an excellent value.

The convertible also required a door hinge pin and bushing kit so that the doors would align properly to prevent damage to the new weatherstripping. This is a very common event for this type of repair the total cost was $7 per pin and bushing kit each door.

I would buy again if I had another 3rd Gen that needed this weather stripping.

The white camaro (TTop) also receive the same weather stripping when Hawks did a restoration. The white camaro with nearly 400,000 miles on it required door hinge pins and new door hinges. I will probably do a separate review the trick new Door Hinge kit.

Again road noise was decreased. It was actually possible to use a cellphone in the car without the road noise drowning out the conversation. Within a few months the doors open and closed as normal this kit has been installed for approximately a year also.

I would buy again and am very happy with the results, product, installation & Hawk's A+.

Good read.

Wonder how the Hawk's compares to the A1 Auto pieces....

Re: Review Hawk's Motorsports: Door Weather Stripping & Window Felt

I'm not familiar with A1 Auto's aftermarket weather stripping

Back in 2008 another body shop did my white RS's TTop weather stripping with their preferred choice. Despite several attempts to find the right side window leaked. I kept the RS out of the rain & garaged. When Hawk's Motorsports did the restoration on the RS, they were able to fix the TTop issue by using their weather stripping kit. It did require one adjustment. I know the car doesn't leak now because the RS got caught in a very heavy rain storm on the way home from Hawk's Motorsports. I'm perfectly happy with the out come and results.
