Big Brake Upgrade Aluminum Hubs

Just got these from Scott the other day.I asked about them on another thread. They did take awhile to make, but wait time/finish is improving. He was maybe 75% done with these & i waited about two weeks. So expect a longer wait if he hasn't started a set yet, worth it though. No fitment issues, very nicely finished. These replaced my BBU std. hubs with the 1LE bearing.Which these also use.Very pleased, thank you Scott.

Re: BBU Aluminum "1LE" Hubs

I dont think they are on the site yet.He doesnt feel they are quite there with the finish & run time, but if you want a set.I would PM him.Thats how i got these, plus he was almost done with them.So my timing was good, for once.As for price, they were well below $450.

Re: Big Brake Upgrade Aluminum "1LE" Hubs

What is the advantage of aluminum? I presume weight savings but is it worth the reduced strength? Maybe it is common to use aluminum on a hub but I don't recall ever seeing it from the factory on any car I have ever worked on.

Now if it is a different bearing or being able to correct off set or something like that I can understand. I just need to be comfortable with aluminum on a high stress location like a hub.

I run an aluminum pinion support on my 9" rear so I know it can take a lot of stress but my wheel won't actually fall off if it should fail. The rear end may lock up and spin my car off the road but the wheels should remain attached lol.

Sure it does. I just haven't seen them before (or noticed them anyway) I suppose it's like the first time I started seeing aluminum suspension components like "A" arms, I thought "really?" But they have turned out to be reliable and lighter so I am a lot more comfortable with them now.

Re: Big Brake Upgrade Aluminum "1LE" Hubs

Scott says they as reliable as the steel counterpart. They are also thicker w/ extra webbing I believe. No complaints so far.
