Recent Hawks purchase ( vary disapointed)
Recently bought a set of reproduction 87-90 Gta door handle bezel trim pieces from hawks for my 89 Gta and they fit like .... Anyone else have this problem? What a disappointment they don't even fit ! Not even the same shape as stock ! Pics don't lie ... I've been playing around with this for over an hour and it just does not fit
This is the Stock piece back in . As you can see perfect fit

It's not Hawks; the same manufacturer is supplier to any place you would buy from. If you don't want it then Hawks will let you return it, I'm sure.
The aftermarket is full of misses. Sometimes it is best to hunt down an original in good condition. Looks like you found one of those examples so good you're sharing for benefit of others.

If Hawks Has Had Complaints About This Part In The Past And Are Still Selling Them Knowing They Don't Fit ,Then They Are A Disappointment.

And to the original poster ;
I'd contact Hawks and return them . Your 100% right the inside relief where your door handle is supposed to fit is smaller than the original . I myself have run into badly fit aftermarket parts (JC Whitney motorcycle parts being the most notorious) and the time wasted in trying to make them fit is best spent on tracking down a set of original parts .

Re: Recent Hawks purchase ( vary disapointed)
The real disappointment is that Hawks may know there is an issue and sells them anyway. They will also not let a bad review go up on any of the products they have developed and sell, I know because I put up two not so positive reviews, giving honest problems, and they still haven't published either of them, it's been 2+ years on the one review and over a year on the other.
