New SoffSeal weatherstip leaking
I'm disappointed in the SoffSeal T-Top Weather-stripping I put on my 1987 Trans Am. My T-Tops were leaking so I bought new SoffSeal brand weather strips and they are leaking. I read good reviews on this product and was excited to put them in. I bought them from Summit Racing and they came with the wrong T-Glass seals. I had already installed the seals that went on the car and they seemed to fit fine. When I tried to put on the glass seals I realized they were the wrong ones. Summit worked with me and put me in touch with SoffSeal. After a couple of weeks of phone-tag, I got the correct one.
After all the seals were in place, I was out in the rain and they leak. Man O Man...…….(close to $300 down the drain)

Not sure if they make T-top seals, but look into Fairchild. I haver SoffSeal door weather stripping on my GTA and Fairchild on my T/A. The Fairchild pieces were far superior. I got them from 1A Auto. See if they have them for what you are needing.

Re: New SoffSeal weatherstip leaking
My dad said he has put in hundreds of seals in t top cars over the years and they most often will leak. Mine didn't leak for two years and now they leak a lil. I love am but they are problematic. Out of 4 t top cars I've had only one never leaked. My seals came from 1AAuto. I just try to keep her out of inclement weather. Mine only leaked when the car was sitting still in torrential rain. Going down the road it never has.

Re: New SoffSeal weatherstip leaking
I replaced my years ago with factory ones and they didn't leak for years. I thought the SoffSeal ones were better than factory. I was wrong. I'll give 1AAuto a shot. Thank you for the info.....

Be sure that your T-tops are adjusted properly before giving Soff Seal a hard time. Instructions are available by searching the forum.

Re: New SoffSeal weatherstip leaking
Many times they leak because they were not installed properly. Check out a few of the installs here and learn from others. There are some videos on YouTube as well. T tops will never seal perfectly. I have Soffseal and mine do not leak unless I hit them with a garden hose by where they meet the corner of the rear of the door glass. I get a few drips inside the car running down the window when I do this.

Re: New SoffSeal weatherstip leaking
You are 100% right! I forgot to adjust the T-Tops after I installed the new seals. I did that the first time I replaced them, but forgot this time. I will do that and see if it helps. Thank you for your reply....

Re: New SoffSeal weatherstip leaking
In 2008, I had a set of new T-top weather stripping seals installed in my 91 RS. In light mist they didn't leak but in actual rain they leaked worse than the old seals they replaced. Part of the issue was worn out door pin, bushings & hinges that let the doors sit lower in the front than they should have. The very hard rubber if the weather stripping kit was the other issue.
In 2015, the 91 was LS swapped & restored at Hawk's Motorsports. With new door hinges, proper alignment and Hawk's installing their newest revised weather stripping kit the car leaked in heavy rain. One return trip to Hawk's Motorsports and minor tweak to adjust the window solved the issue. No leaks or issues in over three years.
Getting it right is difficult.
Doors alignment needs to be right
Door hinges in good condition
Window alignment needs to be spot on
High quality soft weather stripping is required
Expert install is needed
The installer needs to be will to recheck and tweak as needed.
Hawk's Motorsports can provide an excellent product and give tech support. Highly recommended.
I also used Hawk's Motorsports weather stripping on my 91 RS convertible's doors. It also worked great. Takes a while for it to set but very happy.

Re: New SoffSeal weatherstip leaking
Fairchild has a oem look and feel. As said above, if your car hasn't been messed with, it's a lot easier to do. Also, proper sealant and sealant placement is critical when doing them.
