oil pan question
Sirs,
I am building a new 305 for my 86 Pontiac LG4 s/e. What high capacity oil pans successfully work on this chassis? I am going to a high volume oil pump, due to the 224 duration cam that I am using, so I can rev this engine a little.

True. The stock pan and oil pump are more than up to the task. If you want to add something to the oiling system, the "Z28" oil pump by-pass spring will bring the oil pressure up a little.
A "high volume" pump could invite other problems.
There are other oil pump mods than can be done but the OEM system gets the job done up to a few hundred HP and RPM over stock.
For the record, as I had anticipated some road racing/auto x , I went with a Canton baffled extra capacity oil pan with the appropriate oil pump pickup. Stock GM pump with the above mentioned spring.

Re: oil pan question
Like Skinny Z mentioned, standard volume high pressure "Z28" pump is all that's needed. Stock pan has adequate capacity but needs extra baffling, even for straight line acceleration. Canton stock appearing pans are what I use. I've had fitment, leak issues with Moroso oil pans.
