Should I buy from Hawks?

I need all new interior for my 86 Trans Am. New door panels, seats, carpet, headliner, sunvisors. I was looking at their interior kits with all the above for around $1200. I have seen alot of mixed reviews. I have never ordered from them. how is the quality of parts, service, etc.

Re: Should I buy from Hawks?

I've ordered a number of items from them for my 1988 Formula 350 including seat covers. I've only had a few issues with the orders and they took care of the problems to my satisfaction. The seat cover kits they sell are the same ones sold by most other suppliers, they are made by P.U.I.. I don't know who makes the other interior parts like door panels and headliners, but they're probably only 1 or 2 companies supplying these so your likely to get the same stuff from most sellers. I would shop around for the best price(don't forget to include the shipping charge). If Hawks comes in with the best price shipped, I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them.

Why not... If your need 3rd gen parts your choices are limited. I have ordered from them and other vendors from this board with no problems.
I would not let a few nick picked reviews stop you from ordering, in my opinion. Some people are never happy with any parts.

I have to laugh at this. You must not have spent much time reading in the aftermarket board.
These were in the first 10 (TEN) threads in aftermarket review...

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/afte...ike-hawks.html

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/afte...n-spoiler.html

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/afte...ing-knock.html

The lists go on and on about the negative side of Hawks.
xx138xx be warned.

Re: Should I buy from Hawks?

My limited experience was good. Only thing I can complain about was Heather said she'd call me when my spoiler was being shipped she said about 3 weeks and she didn't call. (I wanted to hear her sexy voice again). But it got to me right about the right time and I am very happy with it.

If you buy from their eBay store, most of their smaller items are free shipping. I am lucky enough to drive 30 mins to the shop.

Re: Should I buy from Hawks?

I've been buying parts from Hawks for many years. Like any vendor I'm sure they've made mistakes and ticked off some customers. Boards like this tend to amplify that since many/most satisfied customers don't get all militant to post things. All I can say is, they've helped me in ways only true 3gen experts can help (color matching, etc) and I will continue buying from them

Agree with this post 100%. I have bought numerous items from hawks with no issue. And that's with me being Canadian and paying even crazier shipping charges. Sometimes you gotta suck it up. Cars are not a cheap hobby.

Re: Should I buy from Hawks?

Never had an issue with hawks good people. Bought a tach that didn't work they replaced no questions asked. Bought their headliner kit great fit and quality. Bought other small items with no issues and they always stand behind there services. I'm just glad I live close enough to a great supplier that I can ride over and get what I need. Not everyone is going to be happy with them just like wal mart pisses people off its the way it is. Keep up the awesome work Bruce and everyone at hawks. Thanks

Re: Should I buy from Hawks?

Hawks did a group buy for complete 89 Turbo TA leather interior a few years ago. They teamed up with Katzkin to produce the complete set and they came out absolutely awesome and the Katzkin leather is 100X better than the stock leather ever was. Group buy was awesome with the complete set front and rear seats plus extra leather to do the door panels and was under $800 shipped. Best deal at the time was around $800 per set front and rear ($1600) for JAX leather. I don't know much about the quality personally but hear it was nice as well...most guys had $2000+ invested including installation. Another company made a set of synthetic leather (vinyl) covers for about $400-$500 so does Hawks. We were very happy with Hawks on our TTA kits and even at the non-group buy price of $999 plus shipping only $30-$45 it's still a very good deal.

Hawks also did group buys on the TTA/GTA fiberglass rear spoiler as well...never heard any complaints there as well from my fellow TTA owners.

Personally I wouldn't hesitate to buy from Hawks myself

Re: Should I buy from Hawks?

My mechanic has made a few purchases from Hawks for things like my door hinges and the deck lid sliders for my FB. The price seemed a little high, but at the time was the only option for getting a straight door hinge, and a few other odds and ends. They delivered said products without any problems.

Re: Should I buy from Hawks?

You know, I've had about enough from getting ripped off from vendors. And when I read all the s**t that "Hawks" was knowingly doing to customers that sent me a message. This is not the only board that has talked about about "Hawks' SCREWIN people. I could see an honest mistake or two but when you read of all the people "Hawks is tryin to f**k, this is a bad company to deal with. Why would you want to deal with a company with this type of reputation?? Obama

Here's another good example for all you "Hawk" fans.... WAKE UP

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/afte...n-spoiler.html

Nuthin but excuses and appoliges.

Re: Should I buy from Hawks?

Make sure you ask whether item is in stock. Either website is out of date or Hawks doesn't care about making you wait in order to make a sale. Many expensive aftermarket parts aren't kept in stock and have to be ordered by vendor from manufacturer or supplier; so shop around for price, as service may be moot issue.

Re: Should I buy from Hawks?

I got my first order from Hawks in a reasonable amount of time. They even took a few items back, and exchanged another, after I realized I ordered the wrong parts... With no restocking fee.
I have another order on the way (part of the hood insulation GP#2). This one has been delayed, but only due to getting 10 people onboard for the GP. I cannot blame Hawks for that, instead the penny pinchers here on TGO!

Are some of their product expensive? Yup. But, if you can find the same thing somewhere else, you are free to spend your money elsewhere.

YMMV, Joe

Re: Should I buy from Hawks?

Update: Order #2 arrived in good shape. The hood insulation unfolded with no creases. The headliner mostly flattened out and I expect to be fine after a couple days and once installed in the car.
Kyle also worked with me, including 3x short armrest screws to use to hold the front license plate bracket to the nose.

Another satisfied customer.

Re: Should I buy from Hawks?

I have just got done buying a couple thousand from them and boy befor they got my money they answered my questions asap. I went though ebay for most of it. Just know what your buying their customer service leaves alot to be desired.
I bought an adj. Spohn torque arm and tranny mount from them only for them not to include the instructions or angle finder. No biggie their prices are good. And if I have any questions I just ask the form.
